Annexations raise objections

By ALISA KING

Fairburn's proposed annexation requests for the Harris tract on Plantation Road and the Stephens tract on GA 74 have been objected to by Fulton County.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners placed a bona fide land use objection to the annexations and zoning. In order to alleviate the objection, the city of Fairburn shall require lots abutting unincorporated Fulton County to be no more than two an acre.

The Harris property is a 28-acre site located on the southeast corner of Plantation Road and Harris Road and the Stephens Tract is a 2.9 acre site at 8480 Georgia Highway 74 next to Kaiser Chiropractic.

Until mediation can take place to resolve these objections, the public hearings by council will need to be continued. They recommend continuing both scheduled public hearings for 30 days by March 24, 2003.
