State playoffs start Friday for several local teams

The regular season of high school football is over and several local teams are in the state playoffs. Landmark Christian and Starr's Mill will host games this Friday, while Sandy Creek will be on the road.

Renovated skate park in Peachtree City to open today with new equipment, paint

Skateboarding enthusiasts and in-line skaters rejoice! The Peachtree City Department of Parks and Recreation expects to re-open the skate park at Shakerag Knoll this afternoon.

Landmark volleyball finishes second

The Lady War Eagles found out how hard it is to repeat a State Championship when they met a determined Athens Academy, recently in the AA/A State Finals at Westminster. After a hard fought match, Athens prevailed and Landmark Christian became the 2002 Volleyball State Runner-up.

Fayette County Riders Dominate Championship

Bicycle Motocross (BMX) riders from all over Georgia converged in McDonough for the Georgia State Championship. Once again Fayette County riders walked away with the top honors. These top caliber riders have the advantage because they have access to an outstanding racetrack located within the city limits of Peachtree City and accessible by anyone.

PTC Flash get several first place finishes at state meet

The Peachtree City Flash youth cross country team competed in the state championships held at Carrolton, GA this past Saturday. Ffity-one athletes competed in this USATF event. The Flash athletes did extremely well with three first place team finishes, and two second place team finishes out of the eight group teams that were entered. In addition, this meet serves as a qualifier for the Junior Olympic Cross Country National Championships to be held in Georgia on Dec. 14 for all athletes 10 years old and up. More than 3,000 athletes from all over the country will gather here for the annual event. Of the 37 Flash athletes eligible for nationals, 21 qualified to compete next month.
