Fayette County Riders Dominate Championship

Bicycle Motocross (BMX) riders from all over Georgia converged in McDonough for the Georgia State Championship. Once again Fayette County riders walked away with the top honors. These top caliber riders have the advantage because they have access to an outstanding racetrack located within the city limits of Peachtree City and accessible by anyone.

Riders have competed all year at various races to qualify for the annual championship. This year our riders were up to the task. Katie Waldeck scorched her competition in the 12-13 Girls, to claim her #1 plate. Alex Gordon walked away with the #1 plate in the 11 Rookie class and Travis Cross claimed #2. Gordon defeated his competitors in three straight motos. The 10-11 Girls class pitted two Peachtree City riders against each other. Alicia Allen took home #4 and Brittany Carbone took #7 despite finishing second and third in their motos.

Raymond Yoder was one of two riders who competed in two different classes. He finished out the season second in the nine-year-old Expert class while claiming the top spot for the nine and under Cruiser class. Also pulling double duty was Adam Waldeck. Being seven years old he still finished a strong fourth in the nine and under Cruiser class. His strongest performance came when he claimed #1 in the seven-year-old Novice class, which he incidentally also took the number one spot in the nation as well.

In other Cruiser action Jay Yoder claimed the top honor in the 40-44 class following in his son's footsteps. Jack Carbone claimed #4 in the 35-39 class with his wife Michelle Carbone claiming number one in the Ladies Cruiser division.

Darian Antram finished third in his motos and the state for 10-year-old Rookie. Ty Robinson recently moved up to eight-year-old Novice, and a result behind in the points (9th), but on the track he finished a strong fourth. The youngest of the Carbone family, Patrick, took number one in Georgia for six-year-old Rookie. The five and under Rookie class saw William Cross bring home the #2 plate. In the 18-20 Expert class Arthur Gore took #1 and Brandon Payne #2. Sixteen-year-old Expert Alex Gore claimed #1 in Georgia. Many experts say to keep an eye on this kid, because he will be a Pro pretty soon.

Pete Waldeck claimed #1 in 13-year-old Expert class smoking his competition. Mathew Stover received the # 2 plate in the hotly contested 14-year-old Novice class. Another Father, Anthony Robinson claimed the # 2 plate in the 17 and over Rookie class.

For State team competition, Peachtree City based teams of Fat City Skates & Bikes and DL Racing finished first and third respectively.

Everyone from ages five to 65, male or female, can enjoy BMX racing. If you would like to participate and enjoy the sport of BMX racing check out our website at www.ptcbmx.com.
