Spiritual maturity is key to religious differences

In years past, it was a rather common practice to find one spouse worshipping Sunday morning at the Baptist church while the other spouse was found at the Methodist church. Usually, however, they attended the same restaurant afterwards. No one thought it heresy and apparently marriages did not seem to suffer the worse because of attending different watering holes though the water ran more freely at the Baptist church.

Nicaraguan choir returns to St. Gabriel's

The Catholic Church of St. Gabriel in Fayetteville will host a return visit by the Getsemani Choir, a boys' choir from Nicaragua, Saturday, Oct. 12. The performance of native folk songs and dances will follow a Saturday evening Mass and a spaghetti dinner hosted by the Knights of Columbus. The dinner will get underway at 6:30 p.m.

Myron Taylor will speak at Tyrone Christian Church

Dr. Myron Taylor, retired minister of Westwood Hills Christian Church in Los Angeles, will be the guest speaker at the First Christian Church of Tyrone Sunday, Oct. 13 through Wednesday, Oct. 16. The Sunday morning service begins at 10:30 a.m. and evening services Sunday through Wednesday will begin at 7 p.m.

Braelinn Baptist relocates new Service Center

Braelinn Community Services, Inc., a ministry of the Braelinn Baptist Church in Peachtree City, will open its new service center for operations Thursday, Oct. 24, at 382 Senoia Rd. in Tyrone. The "official" grand opening is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 15.

Bethany UMC plans Missions Fair Oct. 12

Bethany United Methodist Church in north Fayette County will have a Missions Fair Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The fair will feature gifts and handcrafted items made by skilled artisans in 30 Third World countries.

Flat Rock A.M.E. plans Women's Day activities this Sunday

Members of Flat Rock A.M.E. Church invite members of other churches in the community to attend their Women's Day Celebration Sunday, Oct. 13. Women's Day morning worship will be at 11 a.m. and the Women's Day celebration with a special guest will be at 3 p.m. Flat Rock is at 148 Old Chapel Lane, just off Ga. Hwy. 54 near Adams Farm.

Noted minister Charles Campbell to speak in Newnan

Members of the congregations of Newnan Presbyterian Church and Central Baptist Church will have the opportunity to hear one of the region's most noted preachers Sunday, Oct. 13.

Local church offers support groups for those touched by sexual addiction

Peachtree Christian Fellowship offers a support group for wives whose husbands are sexual addicts, a condition the church says has skyrocketed throughout the nation.
