Main Street Fayetteville's July Jam is bigger and better than ever before

One of Main Street Fayetteville's most successful events is the July Jam. This year the Jam has been extended to two days and will feature more rides and activities for the whole family.

Clayton Allince for Summer Theatre ready to cut loose, 'Footloose'

In the hit film "Footloose" Kevin Bacon's character, Ren McCormack, moves to a small town that outlaws dancing. Though he is an outsider he teaches the town to dance again. "Footloose" was a very popular film in the 1980s and its soundtrack is still considered to be one of the best of all time. The next logical step was to bring the music and the story to people live and "Footloose" became a Broadway musical. Now, it is being performed by Clayton Alliance for Summer Theater and several Fayette County teens will help bring the show to life.

Offshoot brings Shakespeare to the southside with 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

William Shakespeare wrote dozens of famous plays but "A Midsummer Night's Dream" may be one of the most influential plays he penned. It is certainly a favorite among actors, as the play involves a lot of action and comedy, as well as drama, romance and dance. Offshoot Productions is looking forward to presenting the show at Sams Auditorium beginning this Friday.

STG goes back to school with 'Good Morning, Miss Vickers'

Though it seems as if summer just began, Southside Theatre Guild is getting kids ready to go back to school with their family production of "Good Morning, Miss Vickers."

New dance school opens

The Peachtree City School of Dance, located in the Governor's Walk Shopping Center, 1988 Ga. Hwy. 54 West in Fayetteville, will open for classes Monday, Aug. 19.

"Survivor" English appearance to benefit volunteer group
Paschal "Pappy" English, one of the four finalists on Survivor: Marquesas, will be in Columbus, Ga. tomorrow evening at the Bill Heard Theatre in the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.

Art auction Friday in Sharpsburg

The Powers' Crossroads art auction will take place Friday, July 12 at the newly renovated Sharpsburg Recreation Center in Old Town Sharpsburg. More than 80 Powers' Crossroads exhibitors have donated pieces to be auctioned at both a silent auction and a live auction to be hosted by auctioneer Eddie Ball.
