One of Main Street Fayetteville's most successful events is the July Jam. This year the Jam has been extended to two days and will feature more rides and activities for the whole family.

July Jam kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday morning and will last until 10 p.m. Saturday evening. All kids' rides and craft and food booths will be open throughout the evening this year. This is the first time that the operating hours have been extended into the evening.

Some of the rides this year include a Ferris Wheel, Round Up, the Bear Affair, Granny Bug and tempest. Kids can also enjoy "The titanic Slide," Noah's Arc, a giant obstacle course, a giant sandbox, a trackless train and the "Rain Room." There will also be two moonwalks sponsored by Shoe Carnival.

Radio Disney will be on hand from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday with a Kids Tent. There will be lots of fun contests and games inside the tent. Along with the rides and the radio Disney tent, there will also be puppet shows and puppet making workshops, a magic show and local entertainment.

The big concert on Saturday night is the return of last years' headlining band, The Coastline Band. People can take a refresher course in shag dancing at 7 p.m. and then try out their new moves when the concert begins at 8 p.m.

"They've been referred to as the 'future of Carolina Beach Music,' and whether you're there to dance, listen or just watch the band perform, you bet on having a good time," said Main Street Manager Nancy Price.

Admission to July Jam, which will be held in the Stonewall Complex in downtown Fayetteville, is free. All proceeds from the event go toward funding the historical renovation and revitalization efforts within the Main Street district.
