Art auction Friday in Sharpsburg

The Powers' Crossroads art auction will take place Friday, July 12 at the newly renovated Sharpsburg Recreation Center in Old Town Sharpsburg. More than 80 Powers' Crossroads exhibitors have donated pieces to be auctioned at both a silent auction and a live auction to be hosted by auctioneer Eddie Ball.

Proceeds from the art auction will be used to enhance the prize money offered to festival artists in an attempt to continue the tradition of exceptional talent that exhibits each year at Powers' Crossroads.

"This will be our third art auction," said Dann Jackson, director of promotions for Powers' Crossroads. "The previous auctions, which have been held every other year, have been extremely successful in providing the funding to raise our festival prize monies to the $10,000 level."

There will be a wide variety of art available at the art auction, featuring work by local artists as well as nationally known artists.

"The quality of the art available at the auction is outstanding," said Jackson. "We have a wide array of pieces from artists across the country. There's really something here for everyone."

The Powers' Crossroads Art Auction will begin with a finger food buffet at 6 p.m. The silent auction will begin at 7 p.m. with the live auction following at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased by calling Frances Teel at 770-253-1518 or Lee Long at 770-830-8859. Additional information about the art auction can be obtained by calling the Coweta Festivals office at 770-253-2011.
