Teacher Receives Grant
Landmark
Christian School second-grade teacher Tammy McCurry recently was awarded
the Loveday Foundation Summer Study Grant by the Teacher Services Committee
of the Georgia Independent School Association.
Fulton
schools seek relief from court order
The
Fulton County Board of Education is asking a federal court to release
the school system from a 1970 order which requires the desegregation
of the county schools. This request also asks the court to declare that
it is operating a "unitary" school system for all students
regardless of race.
Seniors
month starts next week
Free
seminars and health screenings, a salute to the oldest citizens, naming
of the County Senior of the Year for 2002, and opening a new senior
center will be among the highlights of Fulton County government's observance
of Older Americans Month in May.

Local
girls fare well at region track meet
The
Girls Region 4-AAAAA track meet took place at Starr's Mill and wrapped
up Monday evening and though Riverdale finished in first place, the
local teams gave a good showing. Fayette County finished fifth overall,
while Starr's Mill placed seventh, East Coweta placed ninth and McIntosh
finsihed 10th.
McIntosh
and Starr's Mill soccer teams meet tonight for region championship
If
you want to watch some great soccer tonight, head over to McIntosh High
School where Starr's Mill's boys and girls face off against McIntosh's
boys and girls for the region championship.
Registration
begins for youth triathlon
One
of the largest youth triathlons in the United States will take place
Saturday, June 1, in Fayette County.
