White ministers at state event ... color them 'not there

Governor Roy Barnes and certain members of the State Legislature hosted the First Annual Clergy Appreciation Day at the Capitol Monday, March 18. Dr. James Willis, pastor of North Fayette Baptist Church, and I attended the event almost by accident. We had not received any legislative invitation, but had been alerted by Pastor Mamie Harris of the New Generation Christian Fellowship Church in Griffin. Well, Praise God, we went and were shaking the welcomed hand of His Honor, The Governor.

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran announces Holy Week services

The last days of Jesus' earthly life will be remembered during Holy Week at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City, senior pastor Rev. John Weber announced recently. There will be many opportunities to worship during a week that ends in solemnity before the great joy of Easter, the Day of Resurrection, he said.

Fayetteville First Baptist presents 'Bow the Knee' March 29, 30

The Fayetteville First Baptist Church's Sanctuary Choir and Praise Orchestra will present the dramatic musical, "Bow the Knee," Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30, at the church. Both performances will begin at 7 p.m.

First Presbyterian in PTC plans breakfast, Easter egg hunt Sat.

The first Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City will have a pancake breakfast and Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 23, beginning at 9 a.m. The breakfast is sponsored by the Men's Fellowship in partnership with the Children's Ministries. No tickets or reservations are required and crafts and games are planned.

Episcopal Church of the Nativity announces Holy Week events

The Episcopal Church of the Nativity will offer two services on Palm Sunday, March 24. The Children and Family Service will begin outdoors at 9 a.m. with the blessing and procession with palms. The 10:30 a.m. traditional service will begin next door on the front lawn at the Catholic Church of St. Gabriel. The Catholic and Episcopal congregations will participate together in the first part of their Palm Sunday service, which includes a joint procession with palms prior to entering their respective sanctuaries.

Russian choir will perform at PTC United Methodist this Sunday

The Russian folk ensemble "Russicum" will perform in concert at Peachtree City United Methodist Church Sunday, March 24, at 6 p.m.

Peachtree City UMC relocates Sunrise service to new property

Members of the Peachtree City United Methodist Church will have their Easter Sunrise service at 7 a.m. on their new property located on the north end of Robinson Road across from the Calvary Temple church. The 64-acre location has just recently been cleared and a groundbreaking service was celebrated March 10.

Fairburn Baptist presents "Crown Him King"

First Baptist Church of Fairburn will have a special Easter service on Palm Sunday, March 24, during morning worship, when the music ministry presents "Crown Him King," a choral and instrumental performance celebrating the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Special services and breakfast also are planned for Good Friday, March 29, and Easter Sunday, March 31.

Christ the King church to host ICCEC missions conference

Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church will host the third annual missions conference for the Georgia Diocese of the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church, Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Conference speaker will be Dr. Judy Massey of Peachtree City.

Cope resigns from Fairburn Baptist

Dr. Oscar T. Cope has resigned as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Fairburn after 19 years of service. He will become Associated Missionary of the Western Baptist Association on April 1. The association is composed of 54 churches in Coweta, Heard and Meriwether counties.

Fayetteville United Pentecostal will celebrate sixth anniversary

Members of Fayetteville United Pentecostal Church will celebrate their sixth year anniversary and dedicate their new church building April 26-28.
