Call me anything just call me for supper
By DAVE HAMRICK

People who have cast their eyes on this space only on an occasional basis often accuse me of being a Republican.

Crime and punishment

Decades before the invention of the cell phone, the electronic remote control or the "staged, real-life drama," I was a naive sixth grader. Sixth grade was still part of elementary school back then.

New believers who join the Church as adults face unique challenges
By DEBBIE DUNCAN

Instead of growing up in the faith I became a Christian as an adult. There is so much that is confusing to a new Christian joining a church, that I wanted to share the experiences I have had there, in hopes it will make the path smoother for other adults who come to accept Jesus late in life.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

A message to the ones who took Mac's bench

The last Wednesday before Thanksgiving was a typical day for most of the members of the Peachtree City Church of Christ. The work day had ended, and a quick meal had been prepared and enjoyed by most of their number, and they were now on the way to the Wednesday night worship service. This seemed to be just a normal Wednesday evening, that is, until they reached the building.

Mayor's tax proposal was wrong solution for PTC's west side problems

The current controversial issues on Mayor Steve Brown's agenda in Peachtree City are the LCI and CID. For those of us unfamiliar with the abbreviations, they are Living Centers Initiative and Community Improvement District.

Brown created current PTC climate of political sniping

I just finished reading Mayor Steve Brown's State of the City address posted on the city website. There are so many different things to say about this presentation it is difficult to limit my comments. I will say that I wrote my first letter to the editor a year ago in response to then-Mayor Bob Lenox's version of the time.

5 weeks off within 2 months is overdoing it

I think that starting schools before Labor Day is a very stupid thing to do. I work at a Boy Scout summer camp in the Thomaston, Ga., area. It had seven sessions this past summer, out of the original nine it was supposed to have.

Adopt Calendar 1 to help kids' learning, family time

Let's adopt a school calendar that makes educational sense for everyone.

County tries to shut down rescue service

I am writing this letter in hopes to bring attention to a very devastating matter occurring in Fayette County. I am a new resident and one reason I moved to Fayette County was because I thought the local government was fair to all citizens. I have since learned this is not always the case.

Seniors not well served at Fayette Senior Services

I've been living in Fayette County since 1986, moving from Clayton County. I couldn't believe the differences in Fayette County compared to Clayton and the manner in which appeals, especially for transportation, are swept under the carpet!

Mormon doctrine unlike familiar Christian beliefs

Your recent article in The Citizen ["Olympic spotlight illuminates Mormon faith," March 6] invites some comment and correction.

Latter-day Saints not forthright about beliefs

I'm intrigued by the front that the Mormon Church presents to those who are not members. They are hoping that because they were such good hosts in Salt Lake City that we will welcome the missionaries into our homes the next time they show up on our doorsteps.

Mormon insider has disturbing view of real beliefs

This was a very one-sided article. I have been a member of the Mormon church all my life, and over the course of many years some of its teachings caused me to question it. But as a religion that encourages its members to exercise blind faith in their leaders, my questions were answered with a quote from one of the apostles, "When the prophet has spoken, the thinking has been done."

Readers from all over e-mail thanks for story

Story presented facts, not opinions

Some corrections about doctrines ...

Thank you for the article "Olympic spotlight illuminates Mormon faith" in the March 6 edition of The Citizen. I found it most interesting and have never until today read anything in your "paper" be it electronic or otherwise. I only found one item which was not entirely accurate.

A little matter of spelling, usage ...

Thank you for the accurate and unbiased report. The correct name of the church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (beginning with a capital "T" and special note to the "Latter-day" portion).
