Is militry unreadiness a non-issue?
By DAVE HAMRICK
Editor-at-large

There's no doubt that George Bush's choice of military readiness as a campaign issue is a substantive one.

TV news: blood and melodrama
By BILLY MURPHY
Laugh Lines

In this bloated, exaggerated, hyperbolic world of “The News,” can we really discern significance anymore? News programs found on Fox, ABC, NBC and CBS have crossed the formerly broad line separating information from exhilaration. Need I say more than, “JFK plane crash”?

Letters to the Editor

Our country has lost its way, and few even care

I'm sure you've gotten hundreds of e-mails about [Dave Hamrick's column, "Is our way of life doomed?"]. It was excellent.

Deer Pointe annex question: Where are good neighbors?

PTC has failed to adequately protect citizens against big box problems

If you are baffled about the proposed Wal-Mart imbroglio, you are not alone. We are now faced with two options: (1) immediate accessibility to cheap underwear (Wal-Mart sells more underwear than any other retailer in the U.S.A.) along with the hoard of cars that will be filling the 963 parking spaces, or (2) retaining our quality of life.

Riley right: IRS bill means federal gun control

Subject: IRS gun control Amy Riley is right.

Fayette Republicans spend like Democrats

Do the elected officials in Fayette County not understand the citizens here are sick of paying taxes?

Double standards and witch hunts in Fayette

Fayette County is at a crossroads in history. The political, economic, and social forces that have shaped the county's destiny for the past 20 years are reaching a climax with the Williams case with the Market Club, and the Hooters moral crusade.

Does Fayette realize the need for broadband?

I just read your "Opinion" article, "Who is up to the task of getting Fayette wired?"
