The PTCPD needs to get a handle on the golf cart situation. Walking between Kroger and Kelly Dr is so scary with kids driving like crazy,

I have been using the paths as a walker, jogger, cyclist, and carter for more than 20 years. During that time the great majority of people encountered on the path system have been friendly, courteous and helpful.

In any community there are always a few exceptions. For every careless teen driver there are ten of their peers who smile and wave greetings to us older folks. For every inconsiderate dog walker there are dozens who control their animals and get off the path for oncoming carts. Even the group of riders who encounter their friends and block the path while chatting away hastily move out of the way when they realize their error.

A police presence does little to enhance community life. The Peachtree City force knows the trouble spots and patrol them regularly.

The continual cry for more police usually comes from the people who are afraid of kids or do not respect them. Young people will accept on the spot correction and usually follow necessary directions. The adults on the path system have to be responsible citizens. All can learn from a good example.

I don't know if police presence is the answer, but I do know that on the spot correction would not have helped the young man and his female passenger who drove his golf cart right in the path of my 3000-pound car last week if I had been been a few feet closer. Good thing I was driving defensively (yes, as I should anyway!), because he did not look in either direction as he sped across the road. He came out of seemingly nowhere; there were no golf cart crossing signs or road markings. It would have broken many hearts, mine included, if I had hit them.

The paths are like most places. Knowing when to go and when to not, and where, is the key.
I suppose you don't ride much around the high schoola on on the way there and home, at AM and at their PM let out?

How about Friday night? Near the hangouts?
How about at night going and coming from the bars?
No, they aren't out there for a 3-4PM pleasure ride.

School is out now so they are like flies. You are correct in that many try to be civil. Many don't. They all speed! Adults are drunk sometimes.

Where are these known bad places the cops patrol? and when. Like to witness that regularly.

Obtain a Georgia Firearms License and openly carry on your cart. You'll be amazed how it throws even the nastiest teen back to the glory days of "yes sir" and "yes ma'am".

The teen brain is proven to be 3/4 tard, by the way. Check out the MRI study done by Harvard a few years back.

A firearms license doesn't mean you can brandish a weapon for no apparent reason. If you pulled a gun on me on the golf cart path for any reason aside from me trying to rob you or harm you I would call up that 911 and you would get locked up in a heart beat. And if you just have it sitting out I'm going to have no regard for it because I know that you really can't do anything with it unless I'm trying to harm you without you getting locked up. Anyone who's educated on gun laws isn't going to be intimidated by you simply having a gun in plain view. I know I wouldn't. And really, do you want to become a felon just because you got pissed over some kid driving a golf cart a little bit to your disliking?

Consider your cart reported to the PTC Police Department. You are an accident waiting to happen. Slow down, get a muffler, and show some common courtesy, before you hurt someone.

I don't understand the problem!
We now have adequate cart-path patrolmen, buggies, bikes, and men assigned.
How many you reckon they have accosted or arrested sinc January 1?

About the same amount out of the local bars at 1-4 AM on Friday nights for drunk driving, I think. 0.
Less than that at Flat Creek Club.

We have paid for it in every budget-added each time--but they refuse to regularily do it---they have no plan for success. It is like code officers---complaints only.
