None of us is so good that we don't need to practice. There is no good reason for a criminal to still be alive after they break into your home. The only good criminal is a dead one.

If charges were filed (which I highly doubt), then the homeowner would easily win in court.

All he would have to show is that a forcible felony (robbery) was taking place and that he felt that his life or the life of another was in jeopardy.

What jury wouldn't side with him?

Sadly, this type of story (Home Owner being possibly being charged/sued for shooting a home intruder) is not new. I even seem to remember to recall a an episode of Married with children 15 or so years ago along the same line.
Today, protecting your home and family just might end you up in the poor house or death row..

There was not a lot of information given, and not all of it may be accurate. Since the police are considering charges, there must be a lot more to this story.

There was a story I know of in Palm Coast, FL, where someone shot a "home intruder", who turned out to be a "business acquaintance" looking to collect some funds, and an argument started, ending in gunfire with the "acquaintance" dead outside the front door.
