How quick the police arrived on the scene. It shows how morally depraved we've become as a nation as we stand on the sidewalk or pass by with our eye's bulging out. For the sake of decency, I can't believe not one of those idiots wouldn't at least go out there and hold the mans head off the asphalt and his hand until help arrived.

Cy, I disagree. I can believe it happened in this country. I would rather be wrong.

The only accident I can think of passing would be the carcass of the suicide crotch rocketeer that just passed my on I-75 or I-285 doing a 120 mph. I've assisted injured folks at many an accident but I've told myself that's one I'm not stopping for. Yikes! Does that make me like those other selfish people? Shocked

I remember years ago when a young woman was raped and killed on the streets of New York. People looked out of their windows and did nothing to help and did not even call for help. Sometimes it makes your wonder about humanity.

Kitty Genovese. That was just awful. Her killer is still in prison.

A law enforcement officer made the statement that we have lost some of our moral values when something like this happens. How could those who were on the sidewalk not even go over to the victim to see if he was OK? Frightening!

I now I would be out there to help or to do something. I watch one of the news-feed and one of the locals was rather nonchalant about the whole thing. What have we become?

I would help or do something!
What would that be? Stand there and get run over? Direct traffic?
There were four 911 calls in the first minute made.

With a body lying in the street in PTC, I expect cars would just stop, all of them. We don't have bodies lying around often.

But in many places in the USA, they do.

Same in Iraq and China, and Myanmar right now.

Just getting upset and screaming isn't doing anything!
Yelling into TV cameras like they do in Atlanta doesn't help either.

Read what Git real wrote below and really think about it. YES SAGE! Humanity requires us, at times, to risk personal injury in order to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Yes. Direct traffic. Yes. Stand in the road and get the attention of other motorists. Yes. Risk getting a hangnail by supporting the head of the victim or applying pressure to wounds. But, as Git has stated, if you prefer we just step over your convulsing body, just wear a sign or t-shirt which says, "Render No Aid."

I know that "acting out" is a required function for some. Just not me!

That people will take more personal risk for a dog or cat than they will a full grown human? I guess I don't get it.

I don't want to get nasty but I need to explain what happens:

When a Commander orders a bomber crew to drop many huge bombs onto a people, whose leaders are our enemy, I see no one running out and "acting out." Although maybe thousands may be wounded badly and killed---children dogs and all--no one really cares much.

I know the theory of do what you can do, but it doesn't change the attitude much when we have been slaughtering humans by the millions for our existence.

Some use the excuse that I do what I have to do.

If you see him grab his chest and drop to the ground from a massive coronary, just leave him alone and pass on by. There is nothing you can do for that already dead heart of his.

Just cover the children's eyes and move on. You'll hear the announcement soon enough.... "Would an associate please go to aisle 5. We need and associate on aisle 5 next to the Depends to clean up a nasty mess.
