jmunford@TheCitizenNews.com Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown thinks the Fayette County Commission was unfair with its recent vote to hold a referendum for a special purpose local option sales tax for transportation projects. Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown isn’t the only person opposing the recent SPLOST vote from the Fayette County Commission. Peachtree City’s Airport Authority will have to wait a little longer to get its hotel-motel tax funds. State Sen. Mitch Seabaugh, who represents part of west Fayette County, has been named to the Senate Study Committee on Youth and Crime. The Atlanta Hobby Robot Club sponsored the annual Robot Rally contest recently at SciTrek in Atlanta.

jthompson@TheCitizenNews.com While hundreds wander the Coweta County Courthouse grounds tomorrow and marvel at the historic structure, many will wonder about the history of the famous building. Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity’s first Women Build House will be constructed in honor of Mrs. Jean Daane. The affiliate’s Board of Directors along with the Women Build Committee voted unanimously to honor Mrs. Daane, a board member, past president and long time volunteer with NCHFH. What does volunteerism mean to you? Over the past two years, the Coweta County School System has worked to develop several new approaches and resources in the areas of communication, human resources, leadership, student support services, teaching and learning, and finances. One of those areas, communication, has been a particular focus. The American Business Women’s Association, Coweta Chapter, honored Elizabeth (Beth) Gotham as the 2004 ABWA Coweta County Secondary Education Scholarship recipient at the chapter’s annual Awards Dinner May 18. The $1,000 scholarship may be used for secondary education in any accredited college, university, vocational or technical school. |
