NJSL accepting grant applicationsWhat does volunteerism mean to you? For the Newnan Junior Service League, it means giving tirelessly of yourself in order to make a positive impact on the community. To show this dedication, each year the NJSL sponsors one of the premier fundraisers in Coweta County.ÊThe NJSL Ball is known for its excellent food and entertainment as well as an exciting auction, but what you might not know is how this event continues to impact the community after all of the decorations and centerpieces have been put away. This year, Shelter Rescue was selected as the recipient of the NJSL grant made possible by the money raised by the Ball and Auction. With this $27,000 grant, Shelter Rescue is planning to purchase a mobile adoption center to allow their organization to hold pet adoptions all over Coweta County.ÊThis mobility will allow Shelter Rescue to save even more animals and give them a second chance at life and companionship.Ê In 2003, The Welcome House, a shelter for battered and abused women and children, was the recipient of a $24,000 NJSL grant. This grant allowed The Welcome House to make a down payment on a permanent residential facility designed to house women and children who have nowhere else to go. Currently, the NJSL is accepting applications for its 2005 grant.ÊIf your organization is in need of funding for a special project or ongoing expenses, please contact Chris Rice at cdzrice@summergrove.net or 770-683-7423 for additional information or to receive an application. All applications must be returned to the NJSL by July 1, 2004.Ê ÊÊ |
