Test begins of extended City Hall hours in Fayetteville

Although the full roll-out is planned for Jan. 1, City of Fayetteville employees are using an alternate work schedule plan to extend the hours of City Hall.

A Fayetteville man was injured Wednesday afternoon when his motorcycle left the road and struck a mailbox on Ga. Highway 92 south near Lakeview Drive, police said.

Kidney donor needed

Peachtree City resident Jamie Forestal needs a kidney from a living donor with type O blood (+ or -).  Doctors say Jamie could lead a normal life with a healthy kidney after successfully fighting Wegeners disease for 11 years, since she was a 16-year-old student at McIntosh High.

Dem. women host open house Dec. 9

The Fayette Democratic Women held their kick-off breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Right on Thyme Restaurant and Catering in Fayetteville. Betty Whitaker, Georgia Federation of Democratic Women, moderated the meeting and conducted officer elections. Newly installed executive officers include: Heidi Becker Vaisvil, President; Karin Barber, First Vice President; Karen Kilgo, Second Vice President; Michelle Spears, Secretary; and Alice Jones, Treasurer. The Fayette County chapter is the third local chapter of the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women to be formed in the state.  The chapter is the first chapter of its kind in Fayette County.

Lease pending for Clayton State, Tennis Center

Clayton State University is safe for now in the cozy space it occupies at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.

The Hair Cuttery located in Peachtree Marketplace in Peachtree City will be having a Cut-A-Thon to raise money for the Hapton Inn employee who was recently the victim of a violent crime. All haircuts from 5-8 p.m. will be $5.

The Association of Village Pride will host a Community Kwanzaa Celebration

The Association of Village Pride will host a Community Kwanzaa Celebration and buffet dinner at the Fayette County Public Library beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11. AVP’s Youth Leaders Corps and Rites of Passage programs, encompassing outstanding middle schooland high school students from across Fayette County, will conduct this ceremony which celebrates universal values of community and family. The program and dinner are free and everyone is welcome to attend.

Who would have thunk it? Did you know that there is a traveling museum in Fayetteville? There is a DC-3, Gooneybird, C-47, Dakota, Skytrain, and “Puff The Magic Dragon” all wrapped up into one traveling airplane museum right here in the neighborhood.
