Campbellton UMC hosts ‘Gospel on the Grass’ Nov. 1

Members of Campbellton United Methodist Church, a 170-plus-year-old congregation in South Fulton County, will present “Gospel on the Grass,” a concert featuring a different gospel singing group each hour on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Oxendine reminds Georgians: “Change your clock, change your battery”

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John W. Oxendine is urging Georgians to change the batteries in their smoke alarms at the same time they change their clocks when daylight saving time ends on Sunday, October 26.

New regulations required new Georgia drivers to plan ahead

Georgia teens are required to make a reservation with the Department of Motor Vehicle Safety to take the mandatory on-the-road test before obtaining their first driver’s license. This procedure has turned what was once an all-day event into a manageable experience totaling about 60 minutes. Parents and children are able to plan their schedules around school and work and not worry about the long waits that often resulted in being turned away.

CCSU runners peak for Peach Belt meet

The Clayton College & State University cross country squads will be making their ninth appearance in the Peach Belt Conference Championships this Saturday and both teams will be in serious contention for the conference title. The title meet will be run at the nearby Georgia State University Panthersville course at Georgia Regional Hospital with Kennesaw State University serving as host school. The women's 5K race will begin at 9 a.m., followed with the men's 8K race at 10 a.m.

The Clayton College & State University men’s golf team shot its two best rounds of the fall season Monday and Tuesday to finish 15th in the North Shore Pfieffer Intercollegiate at North Shore Beach and Golf Course in Sneeds Ferry, N.C.

Signups underway for lacrosse season

The Peachtree City Lacrosse Club introduced 102 new players to indoor or box lacrosse last season. Of these new players, more than 60 were age 14 and under. These new players joined the 1,400 boys and girls already playing lacrosse in the metro Atlanta area.
