Airport officials urge passengers to plan wisely for upcoming holiday

Although the first frost hasn’t killed the last of summer’s flowers, Hartsfield Airport officials are already in full holiday mode to get passengers to their seasonal destinations.
Officials are hopeful that the recent decrease in summer wait times will translate to the holiday season, but remind passengers that the Thanksgiving holiday travel period is the airport’s busiest time.
Airport public relations manager Lanii Thomas said most passengers arrive home on the Monday after Thanksgiving and passengers should allow at least an extra 30 minutes for their arrival time.
Summer is also a busy time at the world’s busiest airport and officials said passenger waiting time was cut down this summer by efforts of the Transportation Security Administration to streamline the screening efforts.
Officials said between June and September, passengers waited only 20 minutes or longer 18 days in June and only 10 days in September.
Timesaving tips for passengers can be found on the TSA Web site at www.tsa.gov under the travelers and consumers section.
