Vipers
qualify for ASA nationals
The Atlanta Vipers
18-under fastpitch softball team from Fayetteville has qualified for
the ASA National tournament in Garland, Tex., the last week of July.
The team, comprised of mostly Fayette County players, is returning to
this prestigious tournament for the second year in a row. The Vipers
placed in the top 25 in last year's Nationals in Rockford, Ill.
Seminoles
win state titles
The 10-under Georgia
Seminoles, playing out of Tyrone Baseball Association and Peachtree
City Georgia Baseball Association, have won two state championships
this season.
Mud
Dogs on a roll entering postseason
The
Fayette Mud Dogs 12-year-old baseball team recently won three more championships
to complete its regular season schedule. The Mud Dogs won the 11-12
competitive league in Tyrone with a perfect 12-0 record and outscored
their opponents by a combined total of 126-32.
Big
League Baseball signups underway
Signups are
now being taken for 16-, 17-, 18- and 19-year-olds for Big League Baseball
in the south metro Atlanta counties, including Fayette, Coweta and Henry
counties.

from across the United States competed in the 23rd Annual National JOAD
(Junior Olympic Archery Development) Outdoor Championship Tournament
June 26-29 in Denver.JOAD is the youth program sponsored by the National
Archery Association and sanctioned by the United States Olympic Committee.

participants learn sports injury prevention
Whether making
a slam dunk on the basketball court, hitting a home run on the t-ball
field or landing a double-axle on the ice, athletes of all ages constantly
put a great deal of stress and strain on their bodies. This wear and
tear, as well as other hazards inherent to sports, often results in
injuries that could have otherwise been prevented with the proper preparation
and training.
