Mud Dogs on a roll entering postseason

The Fayette Mud Dogs 12-year-old baseball team recently won three more championships to complete its regular season schedule. The Mud Dogs won the 11-12 competitive league in Tyrone with a perfect 12-0 record and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 126-32.

In addition, the Mud Dogs recently won the Morrow/Lake City Simply the Best World Series qualifier with a perfect 4-0 record, including wins over the Morrow Braves, Monroe Bulldogs, McDonough Braves and Gresham Park Scorpions.

Most recently, the team traveled to Panama City, Fla., and won the Panama City Xtreme June Jam tourney with a 4-0 record. Victories were recorded over the Southport Florida Storm, the Quincy Florida Panthers, the Eastside Georgia Raiders and the Florida Hurricanes.

The Mud Dogs now enter postseason play in AABC and will also be travleing to Cooperstown, N.Y., later in July to compete in a week-long tourney at the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Team members for the 2003 Mud Dogs are Andrew Austin, Freeman Bass, Joey Costello, Miles Head, Kyle Hirschfeld, Ken Jackson, Drew Johnson, Brennan May, Cody McCollum, Cameron Pruitt, Cameron Scott, and Chris Ward. Coaches are Greg Hirschfeld, Steve Costello, Mark Ward, Ron May and Chuck Scott.
