Local meeting to come on regional transportation plan

South Fulton Residents who want a better look at the possible future of the county's transportation needs should head to Shannon Mall Tuesday.

BOE budget adopted

The Fulton County Board of Education adopted the school system's FY2004 final budget at its legislative meeting last week. The final budget includes a 2.8 percent pay raise for all employees with satisfactory evaluations and provides program enhancements for students, such as reduced student-teacher ratios in grades 1-3 and expanded foreign language opportunities in five elementary schools.

Centennial Celebration gets OK

During Tuesday's Union City Council meeting, the council approved adopting a Centennial Celebration Resolution of 2003-2004. The resolution captures 100 years of life of Union City, the Progressive City since 1908.

Fulton drivers in top ten at Bus Road-e-o

Duane DeBruler and Wade Smith, both veteran bus drivers for Fulton County Schools, placed in the top 10 at the state Bus Road-e-o June 12.

Duncan Park to open by the Fourth

Fairburn residents should be able to enjoy a re-opened Duncan Park by July 4.

Hope House seeking volunteers for WeCare program

Hope House is a children's respite hospice in Union City which takes care of medically fragile children and provides the children's caregivers with a much-needed break from time to time.

Craft show to raise money for Hope House

Hope House volunteers are hosting an arts and craft show as a fundraiser for Hope House this Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 1760 Dolly Nixon Road in Senoia. In addition to arts and crafts, there will be a silent auction, a raffle and refreshments. Hope House is a children's respite center for medically fragile children located in Union City. FBI wants to ID Riverdale bank robber

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is asking the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect who robbed a bank on Ga. Highway 85 in Riverdale Friday.

Starbucks announces recall on cups

If you have recently visited a Starbucks and purchased a plastic Bearista Bear tumbler cup, you should note that recall has been announced. Small pieces of plastic have been known to detach if the flexible straw on the cups is chewed, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Most Improved Student Awards Presented at South Fulton Schools

The Airport Area Kiwanis Club presented Most Improved Student Awards in fourteen South Fulton Schools during the past several weeks. The award presentations were made during annual end of the year school celebrations. First Community Bank co-sponsored the program with the Kiwanis Club.

Fulbright scholar goes to Columbia

James Hoggard ofCreekside High School has been awarded a Fulbright teacher grant to teach in Colombia, the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced recently.
