Most Improved Student Awards Presented at South Fulton Schools By Airport Area Kiwanis Club
The Airport Area Kiwanis Club presented Most Improved Student Awards in fourteen South Fulton Schools during the past several weeks. The award presentations were made during annual end of the year school celebrations. First Community Bank co-sponsored the program with the Kiwanis Club. The faculty and staff of each school selected the award recipients. Each recipient received a certificate and a $100 savings bond. The school was also presented a plaque to display in the school for all present and future students to see the names of the honorees. This is the seventh year the Kiwanis Club has sponsored these presentations. Chris Shellnutt, Chairperson of the Program stated "Each year we have tried to add more schools each year and we are pleased to have First Community Bank assist us in recognizing these fourteen outstanding South Fulton Students." The recipients for 2003 are: Amelia Capaforte, Arlington Christian School; Elizabeth Nealy, Landmark Christian School; Celina Still, Gullatt Elementary School; Marques Davis, S.L. The Airport Area Kiwanis Club was chartered in 1940. The club meets every Wednesday at Noon at the Steak and Ale on Virginia Avenue in College Park. For more information about the club, visit their website at www.airportkiwanis.com. Visitors and prospective members are always welcome. "Young Children: Priority One" is the Kiwanis program that places continuing focus on the needs of children in early development. As part of this program, the Airport Area Kiwanis Club is proud to have the honor to present the Most Improved Student Awards. The intent of the program is to provide a good positive reinforcement for perhaps a low achiever that is making an effort to improve their performance in the educational area and is achieving some noticeable results. We hope this type of recognition can be the springboard to the student's motivation to even try harder and to be a good example for others.
