Millage rates rollback approved

Board President Katie Reeves announces that for the fourth consecutive year, the Fulton County Board of Education has approved a rollback of tax millage rates. The rollback, which was approved at a called meeting May 21, means a bottom line of no tax increase.

Hartsfield responds to higher alert level

Aviation officials reinstated random vehicle inspections at Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport last week in compliance with security regulations issued by the Transportation Security Administration. Representatives from the Atlanta Police Department and a private security company will conduct the random vehicle inspections.

Public meeting planned

The Fulton County Department of Public Works will hold a public meeting on improvements to Will Lee Road from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 3 at Welcome All Park Recreation Center, 4255 Will Lee Road, College Park.

Students experience the Job Fair

District 7 Commissioner William "Bill" Edwards (center) greets Mrinal Shukla, (far right) a 17-year-old student interested in pursuing a career in public service, during the 2003 Summer Youth Job Fair recently held in College Park. Thousands of students, dressed in business attire and carrying resumés, attended the event and spoke with job recruiters from McDonald's, UPS, Atlanta Job Corps, the Army, the Northwest Youth Power mentoring group, and other local and national businesses. Creekside receives state grant

Creekside High School has received a $1,000 grant from the Georgia School Council Institute (GSCI) in recognition of their efforts to improve student achievement.

Scott votes yes on tax cuts

Late last week, Congressman David Scott voted for the final tax cut compromise between the Senate and House plans. Congressman Scott was one of only seven Democrats to support the plan, which passed the House by a vote of 231-200.

Indians sweep, reach Final Four

The East Coweta Indians are one of the first teams to reach the semifinals of the AAAAA state baseball tournament Wednesday's doubleheader sweep of Pope, winning the first game 6-5 and taking the nightcap 8-2.

Summer track season starts Tues.

The Peachtree City Running Club's 2003 Summer Track Series kicks off Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with the first meet at the track next to Peachtree City Elementary School on Wisdom Road.
