Court changes approved by city council

During Monday's Fairburn City Council meeting, Chief of Police Frederick Brown proposed new changes concerning the operation of the Municipal Court and indigent defense.

Warehouse owner given 90 days to get certificate of occupancy

Some controversial issues concerning the Valencia Warehouse arose at Fairburn's City Council meeting Monday night.

Registration set for elementary schools

The Fulton County School System will hold elementary school registration May 7 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., and May 8, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The registration is for rising kindergartners and other elementary students who will be new to the Fulton County School System in 2003-2004. All elementary schools also will be open for registration beginning in August from 8 a.m. ­ 4 p.m.

Housing Fair set

Persons interested in buying a home can "shop" for lenders and realtors during the annual Fulton County Housing Fair from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. April 9.

Local artist's work featured

The Fulton County Arts Council will host an opening reception for "My Sucker Thumb Story," an exhibit by Lesley Ann Price April 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Abernathy Arts Center.

Car wash this weekend

The Wyndham Peachtree Hotel & Conference Center on Hwy 54 in Peachtree City is sponsoring a car wash Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Wyndham to raise money for March of Dimes.

High school sports briefs

The Newnan Lady Cougars moved to 7-2 on the season after Tuesday night's 5-2 victory over Harrison. Christie McDonald put back her own rebounded miss for the first goal in the match's fifth minute, the only score of the first half. Lauren Clifton got the second-half scoring started, then McDonald scored soon after that, both goals assisted by Wynn Mottola. McDonald then fed Ashley Hawkins for a goal and closed out the scoring herself with a penalty kick.

Performance camp in Fayetteville

A sports performance camp is coming to Fayetteville Intermediate School in April and May.

'Practice with the Pros' April 26

The Peachtree City Recreation Department and Litterial Green will be offering "A Practice With The Pros" at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center Saturday, April 26.

Hoop City in Atlanta April 4-6

Atlanta will host the 2003 NCAA Women's Final Four at the Georgia Dome. Fans will be able to get in the spirit of the Final Four by attending Hoop City at the Georgia World Congress Center April 4-6.
