Sports camps offered for spring break

Young athletes looking for something to do during their upcoming week of spring break have some local options.

The Soccer Centre in Fayetteville annouces registration for its Spring Break Soccer Camp April 7-11 at McCurry Park in Fayetteville. This will be a fun-filled week with a staff of nationally licensed coaches led by Charlie Morgan, Director of the Soccer Centre. Charlie holds a USSF National "A" License and a National Youth License. The emphasis will be on individual technique and small-sided games. There will be full-day and half-day camp as well as camp for Muppet players. Each player will receive a camp T-shirt.

For more information, call The Centre at 770-460-8785 or visit www.soccercentre.info and look under Youth Camps.

For golfers, the Wendell Coffee Golf Center in Tyrone is offering a junior golf camp designed to teach children the basics of golf and how fun it can be. Young people ages 6-14 can learn about the set-up, the swing, the pitch and chip shots, the sand shots, the putting stroke, and how to hit the woods. Each participant will receive different instruction according to his or her level of play.

Parents may drop off children as early as 8 a.m. and lunch, drinks and prizes are included in the $175 fee. The session last until 2:30 p.m. each day of the camp, scheduled for April 7-10.

To sign up, call 770-969-4469 or stop by the Center at 1963 Ga. Highway 74 north in Tyrone.
