Local golfers compete for CCSU Clayton College & State University finished 13th in the Bobcat Invitational men's golf tournament earlier this week in Eatonton. The Lakers posted scores of 306, 302 and 314 to finish 59 shots behind the University of West Florida, the nation's second-ranked team. Seven 16 squads at the event were ranked in the top 20 of the recent Golfstat rankings. For CCSU, senior Bob Guiendon of Warner Robins led the squad, finishing 21st with rounds of 74, 73, and 74 (221). Senior Brennan Cass of Fergus, Ont., tied for 43rd after rounds of 77, 75 and 77 (229). Freshman Jimmy Beebe of Peachtree City tied for 62nd after rounds of 76, 76 and 84 (236), while junior Jess Shirley of Newnan tied for 68th after rounds of 79, 81 and 79 (239). Clayton State returns to action on Friday, April 18th, playing in the Peach Belt Conference Championships, hosted by the University of North Carolina Pembroke, at the Pincrest Golf Course in Lumberton, NC.
