Sandy Creek swim team sets records

The Sandy Creek Patriots swim team set five school records, three state qualifing times and 27 personal records in their meet against South Forsyth, Northgate and Heritage. The boys team lost to South Forsyth, which is a highly ranked program, and defeated Northgate and Heritage, while the girls, missing several members due to illness, finished behind those teams. In their first three meets of the season, Sandy Creek has set nine school records and 73 personal records.

Newnan girls soccer team recognized by National Soccer Coaches

The Newnan Lady Cougars were among 186 women's soccer teams recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Assocation of America as 2002 NSCAA Team Academic Award recipients. The team's overall GPA, compiled from their 18 player state playoff roster in the 2001-2002 school year, was 3.69 and tied the Lady Cougars with three other schools for 41st in the nation.

The reasons for being pro-police are many and should be obvious

I had an unpleasant dream the other night. In the dream, I happened to overhear two people who were discussing one of my newspaper columns. One of them said to the other, "You know that the guy who writes this stuff is anti-police, don't you?" Though I was in the midst of a deep sleep, this comment in the dream disturbed me enough to wake me up. In that misty haze between stupor and alertness that sometimes occurs in the middle of the night, I tried to determine why the man in my dream would say such a thing.

Last week The Boy asked, "Dad, can I go over to Michael's house? His yard is great; they got 60 acres. We're gonna run around in the woods and shoot paint balls at each other after the sun goes down. You do know what paint ball is, don't you?"
