Basketball teams take on region foes in first part of season

Starr's Mill's basketball teams traveled to Fayette County High School on Friday night for the first meeting of the season between the region rivals. Fayette County emerged the winners in both games, while McIntosh's teams handled Mundy's Mill and Sandy Creek faced Pebblebrook.

Starr's Mill swims past McIntosh

Starr's Mill showed just how tough they have become to beat in swimming. The Panthers beat the Chiefs by a wide margin, even though McIntosh had some good competition. The final score for the Starr's Mill girls team was 267 to McIntosh's 189, while the boys finished with 266 points ahead of the Chief's 215.

Starr's Mill and McIntosh wrestling programs do well at Challenge

McIntosh and Starr's Mill went to the Program Challenge wrestling meet over the weekend and both teams were joined by their middle school counterparts, Booth Middle School and Rising Starr Middle School. Starr's Mill and Rising Starr placed first while McIntosh and Booth placed third overall.

FCHS seeks nominees for Sports Hall of Fame

The Fayette County High School Sports Hall of Fame nomination committee is encouraging nominations from the public for induction in 2003. Nominations can be mailed to Charles Warr, Principal of the school. The deadline for submitting nominations is Jan. 6, 2003.
