Panthers and Patriots stay perfect in the region

The high school football season is nearly halfway over and it is getting very exciting. Starr's Mill faced Lovejoy in a Region 4-AAAAA showdown last Friday, made an incredible comeback and won, 35-34. The Panthers now sit atop the region standings with Newnan, whom they will face on Oct. 18 at home.

Local cross country teams run at Alexander Invitational

The cross-country season took several local teams to the Alexander Invitational at the McIntosh Reserves over the weekend. In the Girls Champion Division Starr's Mill placed 15th and Sandy Creek placed 17th while in the Girls Invitational Division Landmark Christian placed fifth and Fayette County placed ninth. The local boys teams ran in the Champion Division. Starr's Mill placed 10th, Landmark Christian placed 13th, Fayette County placed 19th and Sandy Creek placed 25th.

Lake Spivey defeats River's Edge in inaugural tournament

Amateur golfers from Lake Spivey Golf Club in Jonesboro edged members of River's Edge Golf Club near Fayetteville in the first annual "Hamilton Cup" staged at River's Edge on the weekend of Sept. 28-29.

PTC Flash competes in Etowah Meet

28 Flash members traveled to Etowah this past Sunday for a cross country meet. The eight and under girls again took first place, even without their top runner who is out with a minor injury. Although there were not enough runners to secure a first place for the 12 girls, the showing was quite strong with our only three runners finishing in three of the top six spots. Individual result are as follows:

Joey Clanton Wins 2002 ASA Championship

Hello race fans! This past Sunday, at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana, Steve Dale Motorsports won the 2002 American Speed Association (ASA) National Championship. It is the first time in the history of the ASA series a Georgia team has won the title.
