 Chief hopes recruiting picks up
Peachtree City Police Chief
James Murray got some much-needed help from the City
Council last week in what has become one of the
tougher aspects of his job — recruiting and
hiring new officers.
Saturday is Arbor Day in Peachtree
City
Mayor Robert L. Lenox has
proclaimed Saturday, Jan. 15, as Arbor Day in
Peachtree City. The Peachtree City Beautification
Committee will have its annual tree planting that day
from 9 a.m. to noon.
Siemens to close facility in June
Less than a year after opening
with a great deal of fanfare, Siemens
Electromechanical Components corporate headquarters
in Peachtree City will be closed.

Traffic group closes shop – for

As expected after the city's
approval of the proposed Home Depot on the west side
of town, Peachtree City's traffic task force has
ceased having regular monthly meetings for the time
being.
Council kicks off new year of
meetings
The first City Council meeting
of 2000 in Peachtree City was a time of taking care
of typical housekeeping business necessary at the
beginning of every year.
City names top employees
Jesse Brooks, named Peachtree
City Employee of the Year for 1999, and Wayne O'Neal,
chosen as Supervisor of the Year, were honored last
week by the City Council at its regular meeting.
