Brazilian evangelist leading revival at Jones Chapel UMC

Revival Fire 2000 is the theme of revival services at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Newnan, which will continue each Thursday, Friday and Saturday through March.

Services begin at 7 each night.

Guest evangelist Rick Bonfim is the speaker. This is Bonfim's third appearance at Jones Chapel. He served as guest evangelist for the August 1999 Jones Chapel revival, which could best be described as “Holy Spirit fired and inspired,” said a spokesperson.

Bonfim lives in Athens with his wife, Mary Lucy. He has a ministry here in the States as well as one in Brazil. His ministries began 38 years ago when he was ordained in the Brazilian Methodist Church at the age of 15.

Ministries in Brazil include a seminary, a medical clinic and a shelter for the hungry. The organization focuses on revival of the Holy Spirit in both Brazil and the United States. Bonfim is now an evangelist with the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.

“Healing, miraculous signs and wonders, deliverance, salvation and Holy Spirit-anointed revival are commonplace in Bonfim's ministry,” says the Rev. John Freeland, pastor of Jones Chapel. “I have seen this healing in action.”

Bonfim states that his ministry's main purpose is “to bring healing and wholeness in Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Jones Chapel is on U.S. Highway 29 north of Newnan. For information, phone 770-253-0760.
