Chamber's Hofrichter A Disgrace

Spear Road Guy's picture

Boy oh boy is Mike Hofrichter a whopping hyoocrite. He and his developer friends trash Steve Brown in every public forum imaginable over TDK and then he changes his mind on building the road without even the slightest hint of an apology to Brown.

You can describe Hofrichter in two words: No class.

Hey McDonoughDawg, you need to look at Brown's letter to the editor on this site. He says he spent $200,000. I think (don't hold me to this figure) that they needed $1.5 million to build the road. Brown refused to pay for the road.

I was at one of the council meetings when this Hofricter guy was publicly bashing the mayor. Bob Lenox had already spent a large sum of money on the project (can't remember the figure) for land acquisition I think.

I do remember that Brown was perfectly clear that "he thought" the road was going to cause significant problems. However McMenamin, Tennant, the Chamber and the former mayors were demanding the road because of the "traffic relief" it would provide. Brown couldn't convince them otherwise. Obviously, he was right about TDK's impact.

In any event, we need to halt the road and wait to see if the Coweta Commission elected not to rezone the property for the huge development.

I was at that meeting. Hofrichter went into a name calling temper tantrum because Brown stated that the road would increase traffic and not reduce it. Brown compromised but maintained his opposition to the road.

I'll bet you that Hofrichter's badgering is the reason Greg Dunn got involved with the road too. He is one of those type-A attorneys people can't stand.

I'm not here to argue. But I agree, if we can, we need to stop TDK. Other than we agreed to buy some golf course property, what else to we have to lose?

I for one will write the Mayor and the PTC Council regarding this.

Did he vote to spend the money or not on further study of the road? Wasn't it around $200,000.? Do you not think that if Logsdon/Current Council had failed to work out the details for the road that Brown would have been screaming about "wasting" $200,000 of tax dollars? I do.

I'm not sure Brown has a dog in this fight (other than he's a voter in Fayette Co), he could possibly be one of the reasons the road is going to be built, due to his support in his last term to spend further monies.

I'll say one thing for sure, Coweta County needs it's feet held to the fire in regards as to how they plan to handle the traffic these developments just over Line Creek will produce. Just getting them to 74 isn't enough in my opinion. They need to tie another 4 lane to this project. I propose Fisher's Luck. Let them see how the Cowetians feel about that...

Without doubt Brown could have stopped the TDK extension when he was Mayor. That assumes he was also a leader and a good Mayor instead of a self-promoting clown. Had he been a leader, he could have stopped it - because he was right! Hear that - he was right!

But instead, because of his relentness self-promotion of his personal image and agenda, his good ideas and correct positions go down the drain. It was very easy for the development community to discredit him and get their agenda going - completely because of his lack of leadership and maturity - and business experience as well.

Thanks, Steve. You lost then. We lose now.

Gee whiz, Robert W. Morgan, what did you have for dinner? I don't think its agreeing with you.

Standard and Poor’s raised Peachtree City’s credit rating to “AA” under Brown's leadership. We were cited in the top 10 places to live. He saved our golf cart culture. What are you talking about lack of leadership and business experience?

Somehow you have this errant opinion that a single person on a panel of five can do whatever he wants. Brown was right on the development authority horror as well, but Logsdon says he going to cover it all up too.

Look, you can bring the horse(s) to water but you can't make him drink. Brown had the Chamber of Commerce, former mayors, Tennant, McMenamin and the developers all screaming aloud in public that the road was going to save us all. It was one against 50 for crying out loud.

Now that everybody knows, beyond the shadow of a doubt, it's all a big lie, the current city council needs to stop the thing now.

I would tend to disagree with your reasoning, Bobby. Consider the syllogistic analysis of your comments.

You said: “Had he been a leader, he could have stopped it - because he was right! Hear that - he was right!”

You state that : Brown was right that the road was wrong; A good leader surely could have lead to the rejection of the road; Therefore Brown was a bad leader. Or------ Brown was right that the road was wrong; Brown was a bad leader; The road was passed because Brown was a bad leader. Either the minor premise in #1 is false or the conclusion in #2 does not logically follow.

Let’s consider the value of your comments, though. If indeed it is now readily apparent and a foregone conclusion that Brown was right that all the TDK Road would do is create more development and WORSE traffic, then surely our diligent elected leaders, somewhere and somehow will ponder the error of their earlier decision.

It won’t happen. Why not ? Because the real reason for the road (which was actively concealed from the public [but not the politicians]) still remains, and that is sheer development greed. Test my theory. Surely conscientious leaders like State Senator Mitchell Seabaugh and U.S. Representative Lynn Westmoreland will lead the way to reverse their error in judgment. Don’t think so. The developers already have a purchase receipt with each of their names on it.
