Parents, teach your children well

There have been a number of “new” younger additions to the forums/blogs lately. I bid you welcome.

They have issues they want to discuss and present evidence too. Great! I’m glad there here.

Now please teach them “how” to argue/debate an issue and ask questions.

As they are young and have not been exposed to some of us rude, cruel, less tolerant, unforgiving, socially unacceptable types I would suggest that you, mom and dad, provide them some guidance as to how to present and defend their point of view.

I have seen a lot of issues discussed lately that the younger members of our community seem to have an interest in voicing an opinion on. My only comment on that is; I’m glad your kid has an opinion and is willing to share it.

Now how about you assist them in presenting it?

I don’t want to be perceived as one of the gang of eight that jumps on any issue but you, mom and dad, need to prepare your child to be able to join into a society that demands proof and commitment.

There is currently an issue that concerns the students on MHS, parking. Some of the students have taken issue with the removal of parking along one of the streets that they currently use.

How about you the parents, and even the teachers, get together and assist these young people with their efforts to save this parking area.

I’m not saying that a combined effort will lead to victory but it will teach our young people a lesson on how to formulate and present an argument.

They will most certainly be able to apply this learning experience in later life. Others may learn something, if not learn form their mistakes. Isn’t that why we send our children to school?

ON WSB Friday there was a segment on a 10-year old girl whose parents pulled her because the school did not inform them their child was on a hit list or something. Does anyone know any information on this???

God forbid that bad_ptc might have to exhibit some patience with our youth and be a guiding force on the web site!

It's gonna be your fault they turn out to be village idiots. Now from now on Bad PTC, when a youth posts you have to pat them on the back and affirm them no matter how ridiculous their comments might be. Under no circumstances should you challenge them in an attempt to hold them accountable or get them to think. Remember...it's all about their feelings and you wouldn't want to spoil their afternoon golf cart ride home. Would you?

I'm actually glad they are posting and jumping in. It is from conversations that take place here that they will learn some of how government operates and the issues that surround that process. At least they are not on My Space or on a porn site somewhere.

I’m going to throw you a bone. (Homework, it’s a good thing)

Why doesn’t “someone”, anyone of you, find out how the Fayette County Board of Education determines how many buses are needed for your school?

What your looking for is to see if the FCBOE “anticipates” that a certain percentage of MHS students will indeed be driving and NOT taking the bus to and from school.

If the FCBOE is using a percentage of car drivers in their calculations, find out how,the how is important, they are calculating the number and what the number is. (The FCBOE’s number)

Now, after you’ve done that count the number of available parking spaces your school has for student parking. Knowing the number of available parking passes wouldn’t hurt either.

I’ll leave the rest up to your imagination.

Hint: More than one person can fit in a car.

Sincerely yours:
