Sex and the Peachtree City, the King and ResidenceOld "King" Bob did some nice things as mayor. Even Steve Brown has said that on this web site before. Lenox is a nice guy as a person goes. The problem I had with Lenox as mayor was his financial links with the benefactors of his government decisions. It was common knowledge in many circles that Lenox had financial dealings with Pathways (PCDC), the guys that owned the sewer system, Peachtree National Bank and the development authority boys; thus, they call it the "good old boy" system. Anybody that thinks there hasn't been a great deal of cronyism over the near five decades of Peachtree City's existence is staying at home watching too much Sex and the City on the TV. Now I've seen Lenox seriously talk down to some people at city council meetings. I think even he'll tell you that he didn't accept opposing views very well. What was the name of that little old lady that ran against Lenox years back? I saw her give Lenox the fits at one council meeting. She got on to him about his financial relationship with PCDC. He tried to cut her down at the meeting, big mistake, as it turned into a public relations nighmare for him. I get a good laugh when someone starts off a letter, blog or free speech with, "I've lived here for 30-years ..." so? I should begin all of my blogs with "I've been here for 24 years, 3 months and 14 days and let me tell you with great authority that ...". What does giving the length of you stay really mean? You've been blind to reality for over 30 years? You're responsible for everything good that's happened in the last 30 years? Why should someone's opinion be weighted on the length of their residence? By the way, I've lived in this city for 24 years and you'd better pay attention to what I have to say!
