So decreed by the Gang here on the Citizen Blog. I mean, in their delusions of relevance, they think they defeated Greg Dunn from the comfort of their computer room. The fact is, Greg defeated himself. That is a fact, no ifs, ands or buts. When you take on the most popular elected official in the county, it's political suicide and no amount of drum beating on a blog will make people turn against someone that makes their Sheriff "Public Enemy #1" when in fact, they were already poised to do so. The people that voted Dunn out were going to vote him out 2 years ago. They simply had to wait for his time to come up to do so.

The sheriff may be popular, but I lost respect for him when I saw that picture in the paper of him wearing the "Dunn is Done" shirt that Eric Maxwell was giving out. That was over the top. Up until then I had been on his side - mostly. I did not like his comment in the AJC a while back about the three employees that were sent to recover the traded in cars, that they were lucky that I didn't whip them. Sounds like "Boss Hog" to me. We need more progressive thinking in this day and age. Guess Randall would like a lynch mob to help him out on occasion.

There is some right and some wrong on both sides. The sheriff sued the commission prior to the commission suing him. The judge ordered the sheriff to comply with the county on some things and not on others. Please, check your facts before you post. Maxwell sued the commissioners, too. That cost the taxpayers money, as well.

Also note the Sheriff's numbers were invoices directly relating to, by entry. That means the indirectly related did not get included.

$138,894 + $70,882 + $ 16,854 equals the over $225,000 quoted in the article as the sum. You were adding the $225,000 to it's components. The amount the county's law firm collected in three years did not just include the sheriff lawsuit. The county has many other legal fees. They have fees for open records, to defend various departments, etc.

This server is having a hissy fit.

Yada yada yada points out that Eric Maxwell also sued the county and that must also be wrong. To the contrary, Maxwell was right and he won in court.

The fact that Dunn would actually stand by an ordinance which restricts political speech to one campaign sign per lot is utterly ridiculous. I remember Dunn's remarks in The Citizen were something like, "Maxwell could have asked us to change the ordinance." Dunn could have easily made the smart decision, realizing they couldn't defend such a poorly constructed (not to mention unconstitutional) ordinance, and immediately changed the ordinance. That would've save us some significant legal fees.

But no, they defend something that they later admitted they knew was wrong. Why?

The political scene in Fayette County is full of such mysteries. Look at what is going on in Peachtree City.

It sounds to me like they (or she) just can't decide who's responsible for Greg's loss. Is it because lies were told by Eric Maxwell, because we bullied people here or because the sheriff is so popular? We know it can't be because of anything Greg Dunn did.

This is just not the way mature adults behave. And it is hard for a Republican to watch.

This is a classic, liberal political strategy. Villify your opponent wildly, defending your conduct by stating that you are simply "passionate". And when you are treated similarly you respond by labelling any criticism as "mean spirited".
