I have personally never been there. My mother works there though and everyone seems to enjoy themselves when she makes the special. Right now, we are working out a few kinks. Please, try it out. Atleast once.

We just went to Andre's last night! It was a very enjoyable evening for my husband and I. We thought the food was great and the atmosphere was nice. The entrees run from about $14-29, dress was "dress-casual". It was most enjoyable because we spent about 2 hours over our dinner! We are usually grabbing a burger or sandwich at our local sit downs here in PTC (Taco Mac, etc.-also one of our favorites) so this nice 2 hour pace was enjoyable. The owner, Andre of course, takes the time to visit with the patrons and chat and check to see that all is good. We noticed many "regulars" there on our visit. We will definately be back!

Don't know about Old Mill. I agree the Old Mill Steakhouse was a good place. BUT, when looking for a good place to eat I still recommend the above behind Chic-fil-et. Still haven't made it to Andre's Off the Sq in Newnan but the Brickyard over there was good.

SPEAKINGOUT
we were looking forward to the reopening of the Old Mill, however our first experience was not to good, I had the seafood platter and it was good, however, my wife had the Mahi Mahi and it was the worst she has ever eaten.

The owner of the property, Neil, ran the restaurant when it was The Mill Around Restaurant. I believe he worked for Delta, and didn't have the time to dedicate to running it properly. It tanked because the food was NOT good. The property was then leased by another company who opened it as Olde Mill Steakhouse. GREAT food, GREAT service, host to many wedding receptions, parties, and meetings- (AND it was ALWAYS packed on Fridays and Saturdays). The "leasing disagreement" stemmed from the property owner, Neil, and the restaurant operator, Fred, constantly bickering on the ins-and-outs of the normal wear and tear on the property. When the lease was up for renewal back in 2004, Fred made a more than reasonable offer to purchase the building from Neil to keep Olde Mill open. Neil refused the offer and refused to renew Fred's lease, and the restaurant was forced to close. The company that ran Olde Mill Steakhouse, in case you didn't know, also has another Olde Mill location around Cumberland that is still open, AND they operate Malones on Virginia Avenue. Unfortunately, due to his personal disputes with Fred, Fayette County lost a great place to eat. But now that Neil is reopening it himself, hopefully we'll have a great place to eat again that will be more reminiscent of Olde Mill Steakhouse (great!), rather than The Mill Around Restaurant (terrible!).

Excellent post, you covered everything from the start of the Mill Around to present. At first, the Mill around WAS good, but most of the help quickly left as they didn't get along with the owner Neil. Then, the food and service became pretty bad. When the Malone's group took it over, huge improvement!

I miss the Olde Mill and can't see why this time the Mill Around will be any better than the original MA. I question the business-sense(and food-sense) of the current owner. He lost a lot of rent by forcing out the Malone's group and leaving the building closed for a long time. The MA was bad enough the first time that he's not getting a second chance with my food money.

I just hope this place reopening is not another "huge daddy's" or whatever, joint and smokey bar. We have enough booze in PTC for the alkis. We need a nice clean fish and hamburger place. Then I will go often. If they can't make money without the booze, then don't open, you will fail again.

Re smoking and kids etc. As far as I know, only 3 places or so in PTC allow smoking and dining at all. These places are much more of a bar type place anyways. Are you saying they shouldn't be able to remain open?

I would be shocked if this new Mill Restaurant is a smoking establishment. 2ndly, no one has ever made me enter place that I thought was too smoky. Although, Big Daddy's has pretty good oysters.

if it happens, you enter a smoking establishment, you will blame it on Big Daddy?

By the way, I need to try that place. Are they open on Sunday evenings?

Highgreen was the one complaining, not me. I just pointed out that Big Daddy's is well within the law.

I do think Big Daddy's is open on Sunday's too.

they are open, they opened August 8th. We do not carry hamburgers there but many types of fish, steak and chicken. We are not a smoking establishment and do not have a bar scene. the bar is a service bar where your drinks are brought to you. We are opened tues - saturday. 5-9.
