$3 Cafe

For many months (actually more than a year) I anticipated the opening of the $3 Cafe and I was absolutely astonished to read some of the accounts regarding food and service there.

I finally decided to try it out for myself and we met another family there this past Friday night at 7:15 pm.

We were greeted and seated promptly and our waitress was quick to take our drink orders. She took our food orders when we were ready and the entire experience was good.

Tonight, my wife and I decided to try it again. The exact same experience, good food and good service.

If you have held out on trying this place, try it and make your own decision. The place is nice on the inside and I believe that the owners have been making corrections for any earlier mistakes. Most new food establishments have a few speed bumps when they first open, and based upon my experience, I would say thy have flattened these bumps out.

Give it a try.

I was feeling adventurous tonight so we went to the 3 dollar cafe.

First impression: not a lot of people for a Saturday night.
Second impression: six employees hanging around the hostess station idly.

Hostess took us to a table, which had not been wiped down since prev occupants. She yelled at busboy to do his job. We asked for a booth instead.

Server was very prompt and professional. She noticed when soft drinks were getting low and brought refills promptly.

Entrees took 25 minutes to arrive, which seemed a bit long considering how little business they were doing (we'd ordered a hamburger and a buffalo shrimp/chicken wing combo). Hamburger was average, shrimp was good but chicken wings were dry (they'd spent quite a bit of time beneath heat lamps).

After I'd paid the bill I realized I'd been charged for a 23 ounce beer and served a 16 ounce beer. *sigh*

This place was decidedly average. I don't think it can compete against much stronger competition (like the new Taco Mac).

I'm not a fan of the $3 Cafe in Peachtree City. I've posted in the past about my lousy experience. It's not worth the money. I'd rather spend my $30-50 elsewhere.

Mellow Mushroom is so awesome. I would much rather go there.

I've eaten there twice, once with my husband and once with a couple of girlfriends. Both times the server was very nice, but the service was terrible, both in waiting for the server to come to our table and in the long wait for the mediocre food. We did speak to the manager the second time, and a mixed drink was remade, with the explanation that "the sweet and sour mix has been getting many complaints lately." (Shouldn't they have looked into a solution the first time a drink was sent back?) Even with a free dinner coming my way, I will wait until I hear about some big changes before I venture in the $3 Cafe again.
