PTC Teens

When I read this story the most disturbing thing for me was that kids scattered and failed to cooperate with police when they arrived. Further that it took a shooting for someone to call the police. My son was cited for Minor In Possession of Alcohol about 3 years ago when he was 17 and attending a similar party in PTC. The neighbors called the police when they figured out what was going on. The entire incident was all over but the crying by 11PM on a Friday night. Same thing happened, bunch of kids ran. Some were cited and their parents called. What is it about these kids that they would run when something so serious had just happened? Why didn't the neighbors call when they noticed there was a party going on? Did they not know their neighbors well enough to know the parents were out of town? Hindsight is 20/20 but I just wish a neighbor had gotten involved before it was too late. And I wish that teens today were a little less self centered than to run rather than risk the consequences of their actions.

What do you think is going to happen when the pcpd treat teenagers like the scum of the earth ? Honestly ? I've never seen a mini-van pulled over ! Just minorities and teens . . .

Wonderfully put! Where were the neighbors? Recently one of my neighbors called to advise me that my teen looked to be up to something suspicious while I was at work. I headed home and, sure enough, he was. Rather than being offended, as some would be, I thanked her for caring enough to call. I would do the same for any neighbor. Where did these parents think their children were at 3 AM? That's what I'd like to know!

Sad but true.

100 homes can be attached, in example, but then neighbors avoid each other.

Right up in Morrow there was an accident in a buy intersection. I was the only one who did not run away.

And good thing I did. The illegal, no insurance, driver that could not even speak English tried to blame the other driver.

She was stunned I stayed. But so grateful she sent a Thank-You card.

Not trying to build myself up here. Just pointing out that if grown-ups think and act like those who fled the scene, what do they expect from neighbors, their children and all the rest?

Thankfully I live in a community where all my neighbors watch out for each other. Even give keys to each other for security purposes.

What is sad is they or he tried to cover it up. The gun was found hidden. I can't help but believe that 911 wasn't called right away. I wonder how much time passed between the shooting and the 911 call.
