Sandy Creek math team

If you ever need help figuring out a difficult math problem, just consult the students on the Junior Varsity and Varsity Math Teams at Sandy Creek High.

Both teams competed in the Fayette County Math Tournament last month and walked away with a second place win. Previously, the two teams traveled to the College of Charleston Math Competition in South Carolina where Ashley Ellis came in first place on the “Fanfare for the Common Divisor” Sprint. There were over 50 schools from six different states attending the competition.

To come in second in a group of 50 schools in a math contest is a very nice achievement.

It reflects well on the students, it reflects well on the teachers, and it reflects well on our community.

Their success did not come without effort, and the dedication and support of their teachers (and even parents).

Congratulations! May your success in this competition serve as a stepping stone to even greater achievements in your careers.
