I see the two golf cart tunnels under 54 West. Now a question

The tunnels are clearly on the East and West side of the railroad tracks. How are they going to give access to golf carts that need to actually cross the railroad tracks? Ie going from The Avenue to Home Depot etc? Or from Huddleston to the Avenue? Are they going to have golf carts on the actual bridge? I thought PTC had a PDF of the site plan on the web site, but I can't seem to find it.

A bridge, yet to be built, will run alongside Hwy 54 on the north side of the bridge. From that bridge will be what amounts to half a clover leaf. The first will drop off just in front of Best Buy and allow you to go under Hwy 54 to gain access to Huddleston.

The second will drop off in front of Ethan Allen and will allow you to cross to the Avenues.

My question is this, why wasn't that bridge built in conjunction with the new bridge? With the cranes and manpower there it should certainly have been cheaper than re-mobilizing the manpower and equipment.

Your 2nd bridge makes perfect sense. Glad to hear the carts/cars won't be mixing on the roadway.

Maybe the lighter duty of the 2nd bridge is the reason for not having all the heavy cranes etc on site. Who knows? I assume the 2nd golf cart bridge was in the original bid, so maybe they know what they are doing.

I wish the golf cart bridge was in the original bid, but it wasn't. I believe that the city has released for fabrication the engineering, so we may see construction going on before too long.

That being said, had they proceeded earlier, they could have certainly struck a deal with the onsite contractor to install at a cheaper rate. This isn't the fault of the current administration, but some carry over from the previous.

Oh well, its only tax dollars.
