It's their DUTY as the Board of Elections

The point is not who made the complaint or when it was made, but the fact that it was made and needed to be investigated. The meeting was called and Horgan ADMITTED he had advertised before qualifying. Like it or not, that is against the current campaign finance laws. So, it is the DUTY of the Elections Board to pass along the complaint to the State Ethics Board. If they had chosen to not do so and ignored the complaint, the other four candidates would have cause to lodge a complaint against the Board of Elections. In this day of racial divisiveness, I can only imagine the fall-out since Mr. Horgan is the only white candidate and all of the others candidates (from both parties)are black. As long as they are doing their job and fulfilling their duties, I have no problem with them voicing their support for one candidate or the other.

Isn't it interesting that nothing has been said about the third member of the Elections Board. He is the Democrat who is campaigning for one of the democrat candidates. Guess that is OK, since we don't expect any better from democrats. So the two Republicans are looking into complaints against a so called Republican and doing their duty. That makes news. Go figure.

If you want to serve on the Election Board, fine. If you want to toss around frivolous charges, go for it. But you can not do both. Apparently the local GOP group has no sense of Ethics. In zeal to elect an inner member, they engage in rank hypocrisy. It is this same group that will stifle criticism of a fellow Republican if its one of the incumbent/insiders. This hypocrisy violates Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment.

Reagan's 11 th cammandment was never speak ill of a fellow Republican. So maybe someone should tell Horgan that when he calls the local GOP liars in the paper just for publicity. He was not man enough to say anything in person. He is the liar.

The board members are not tossing frivolous charges. Horgan broke the law. He admits it. He is dumb as a stump. Do you want him being on the board of commissioners if he cannot follow the law? I don't. This has nothing to do with the local GOP. As for the llth commandment - he is not a Republican. He is a RINO (republican in name only). If he was involved in the party he would have received training that would avoid breaking elections laws and breaking the sign ordiances by putting his signs everywhere without permission. He has them all along the right a way and on vacant properties. He has no respect for the law. He is a disgrace.

You are a disgrace to all "fruit"...

I noticed that Emory Wilkerson has put his signs in peoples yards I assume with the property owners permission. Horgan puts his any and everywhere. They are mostly on vacant properties and in the right of way. One day I see Emory's signs in front of a place and the next day they are gone and Horgans signs are there. One business in Fayetteville I know is supporting Emory and had his signs. They did not give Horgan permission to put up signs, but that did not stop him. He put up his signs and removed Emory's. That is against the law. He even put up signs in front of the Fayette Daily News without permission. Horgan thinks he is above the law. What kind of commissioner would he be?

You saw Horgan removing Emory's signs and placing his own signs there?

If you didn't, that's a pretty serious accusation, and could in fact lead to a lawsuit.

You probably ought to be more careful throwing out accusations, simon. Your credibility is already in the toilet, why get yourself a lawsuit?

Seems Hogan will fit right in. Breaking the law seems to be the only requirement for a politician, oh I almost forgot, the good ol' boy attitude as Hollis assured us on his recorded phone solicitations for Hogan. At least that was my interpretation of Hollis' message. I hate those recorded message, I want a real person on the line so I can ask questions. Experience means nothing in our county. I agree I have never seen Hogan at the Republican meetings, at least in the years I have been going.

SandySue you are right on. I thought the phone call was a code for good boy. (and code for something else, too) It really lowered Hollis Harris in my estimation. He says in the call Horgan has done nothing wrong. BOLOGNA. Horgan admitted he broke the law, but did not know any better. Will that be the way he operates if elected? Horgan is also a liar. He told the newspaper he did not know of the complaint, but Hobbs had called him to advise him of the complaint and the meeting just as soon as it was sent to the papers. So the next day he says he knows nothing of the complaint. He also called the local GOP liars, when he is the liar. All three candidates were offered space in the recent mailing. He was called and his campaign manager Sam was told in person. They were given the details as was Malcolm Hughes. Malcolm Hughes declined because he did not want to spend the money for the cost of the ad. Horgan had about three weeks to respond and did not. So he is a law breaker and a liar.
