Peachtree City's Next Mayor

Mike King's picture

In just over three weeks Peachtree City will choose its next mayor who will inherit, arguably, the worst economic scenario of any mayor in our history. A scenario brought about, in part, by city leadership devoid of the fortitude to take unpopular actions so as to avert or minimize the current financial crisis so as not to jeopardize their future political aspirations.

The choice we as residents have is between an individual who repeatedly has stood by his campaign rhetoric, the wishes of his constituency and the betterment of our town or an individual who allowed herself to be dupped by a mayor who abandoned her by abstaining on a vote for pay raises. It's between someone who distorts their council record to hide previous errors in judgement or an individual who openly discusses issues and decisions in this forum.

I could go on, but it's obvious that Don Haddix has proven himself as the individual who is the true independent in this race. His lack of campaign donations prove that he is no lackey for developers or special interests, and his margin of votes over his rivals demonstrate that he is the people's choice for the next four years.

This town sorely needs the leadership and skills of Don Haddix, so please get out and vote. Peachtree City simply cannot afford another four more years of the Logsdon legacy.

with your comments regarding Don Haddix as our next Mayor. You have clearly and accurately depicted his position.

You are right that he will inherit a very difficult situation. Mr. Haddix understands this and is willing to face it head on. The other candidate is clearly in the pockets of those who created this sorry situation and feel that if we keep doing the same thing, the results will change.

I admire Mr. Haddix for his willingness to address it and deal with it. We should all be so bold.

Regarding Bonkers, thank goodness it's only one vote. He has an uncanny ability to not stay on topic, evidenced by his continuos saturation of drivel all over this space. I used to find him amusing but now I feel as you do, his meds are in need of serious updating.

Let's get out and vote for Mr. Haddix, the next Mayor of Peachtree City.

But, but Clinton-----I mean, what about the Haddix wish for the 150 million Splost tax?
Easy way out for politicians!!!

I have decided not to vote which will help Haddix, I suppose---but I just can not.

Is it possible to hire another City Manager (from out of state if possible) and put him in charge and the Mayor just sign what he has to sign? Eat rubber chicken a lot.

But a ten year SPLOST costing about 150 million in taxes for unneeded money would have been OK??

Ussing SPLOSTS to budget with is wrong!

Repeat after me, green pill before the blue pill; green pill before the blue pill; green pill before the blue pill. Now, feel better? You know that without your medication, those 60's acid flashbacks keep coming back.

But what about the tax he was for passing?

No blue or green pills, just white generic ones! Smart pills and Vitalis!

I'm sorry you had a rough night. We do seem to pay a steep price for the escapades of our youth, did yours begin at Woodstock or before?

Regarding Mr Haddix and his pro SPLOST stance, I simply state that I disagree in that I feel government at each level be placed on a 'forced' diet and live within their means. Sooner or later they'll have to, and I believe that we would be better off starting now rather than later.

Even as we differ, I can honestly say that his realistic approach to our city's problems are far better than the Logsdonian manner of kicking them down the road. A road that may well be one that may have been sold, and one that may ultimately return to haunt us.
