We need a pro-growth agenda that urges congress and the Obama administration to enact policies that bring tax rates in line with our global competitors. We need to keep chipping away at the deficit by taking steps to control wasteful government spending. See http://www.friendsoftheuschamber.com/issues/index.cfm?ID=104

Only we are NOT chipping away we are doing quite the opposite under the last TWO administrations.

Here is the link to the article that audreyT mentions:

Tax rates for businesses second highest in the world.

being labeled; isn't his latest attempt to salvage the health care scheme rather interesting. He supports mandatory health care insurance. Yep, I can buy into that. You have to pay to play. I can almost buy into the notion that it's really not a tax increase if you have buy insurance. Kind of like automobile insurance.

What I'm curious about is his statement that the "Guv" will provide to those that can't afford it. Well how is that going to be funded, managed and controlled?

Three things:

1) We can criticize this President without being labeled? Yeah, and I have some GM, AIG and Lehman Brothers stock I am hoping for a comeback on too.....

2) The government is going to manage and control how/whether you are insured. The same ones who screw up everything pertaining to an individual that they try to control and manage. Barry is saying that he knows the resistance is rooted in beliefs on the proper role of government. I doubt he really believes that, but he knows the value of saying it. The problem is all his followers didn't get the memo.

3) Who in the hell do you think will fund it? The same ones who fund the freeloaders now. You and me. The government doesn't "provide" squat to anyone. Productive taxpayers do.

I knew the answers too; but, I was trying to get into a stimulating debate with someone................ from the other side. (being careful not to label) Smiling

Since nobody from the other side stepped up yet, I thought I would help provide the stimulation to get the debate going.....

to scale back a proposal in the latest version of Senate health-overhaul legislation that would tax generous insurance plans.

Unions say that would hit the plans of many of their members, who tend to have generous benefits. So I have to ask the question to those of you that said the Republicans are so uncaring; what the heck is going on here?

are weighing a proposal to tax generous health-insurance plans, a step that risks conflict with unions but would help pay for the House's version of health-overhaul legislation.

Well now, I wonder if President Obama will veto it since it contains a tax on the middle class which we all know he said that will not happen. Gee, here's another meaningless campaign pledge he can't keep.

It's called "pandering to special interests" - something President Hopeandchange promised would never happen in his administration.

Nothing new at all. An empty suit who can deliver a speech off a teleprompter.

He has no health care plan except to nationalize it to please his leftist backers. His reign of terror is coming to an end. When his health care "plan" doesn't pass - he's a lame duck for over 3 years. Taking back Congress in 2010 then becomes possible.

Many here doubted me when I predicted 6 months ago that the mid-term elections in 2010 were going to be devastating for the Dems. Of course the other party has to actually offer something and run some decent candidates - a pretty big if.

Now we see that Hillary is coming alive. She finally figured out why Barry put her on the shelf at the State Dept. and she doesn't like that or him. She's going to resign at the end of the year and run for Governor of NY and probably win. Then after a short tenure there, challenge Prezbo for the Democrat Party nomination in 2012.

I love it when liberals go after each other. It is better than porn.

I would offer a slightly different take on the outcome of the 2010 elections. Sure the leftists will suffer, but not to the point of losing total control. The leftist of the left and rightest of the right have been in place for quite some time, and with the exception of those truly in trouble (Harry Reid) pretty much all will make the return trip. It's simply too hard to unseat these incumbents. I do not see the likes of Barney Frank, Joe Wilson, James Clyburn, John Lewis, Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha, Lindsay Graham, Johnny Issakson, or any of their ilk losing a reelection bid. They either die or we see them again.

What we're in for, I'm afraid, is gridlock of epic proportions. The sheer arrogance, incompetence, and greed of those inside the beltway will only further divide the nation.

Sadly, you and I will continue to bitch. Have a great weekend!

First lady says US health care is 'unacceptable'
(AP) – 1 hour ago

WASHINGTON — First lady Michelle Obama says the current state of health care in the U.S. is unacceptable and women have an important role to play in changing that.

The first lady and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius spoke to a group of women at the White House Friday. Mrs. Obama says women are uniquely qualified to change the debate on health care overhaul because they are often the ones "making critical health care decisions" for their families.

Mrs. Obama says her husband's plan will allow women to obtain better, more affordable health coverage. (but at what cost to Americans that pay taxes?)

If she doesn't think that the best healthcare system in the world is acceptable to her highness, then perhaps she would prefer the healthcare systems of Canada, the U.K., or perhaps Russia. Surely they are far superior!

I guess this means that she's back to no longer being proud of her country.

...if they tack-on tort reform and the triggers aren't automatic, I can see some Repubs deciding to support a bill that included both. I think intrastate competition and something that addresses exclusions for prior illnesses are a given too and aren't confined to just Dems or Repubs.
