USS Lake Champlain Rescue

Tug13's picture

My g-nephew Chris is on this ship and participated in this rescue. I have a email picture of him holding a small child. So very sad, but ended well.
Sorry, I don't know how to post a link to the CNN story. Cy, can you help?

Thank you so much for that bit! It makes me even prouder of them all. I have looked at the photo of your Nephew many times and have remarked that that is the photo that should be on the New York Times. He must be a special young man.
I am sending this link. When you go to it, type in the USS Lake Champlain and you will see all the photos.
Thanks again! www.navy.mil/view_photos_top.asp

Thank you for the link! I looked at all of the pictures & sent the link to my nephews Grandmother! She is thrilled to to have the link and will check it often for updates. I will too!
Your son & my nephew might know each other! Was your son in any of the pictures?
Of course we think my nephew is special but...he really is, always has been.He loves little children and is a wonderful young man. He's a Medical Corpsman and is going to continue his education, and plans to be a doctor.

I'll just bet your son is special too!! I wish we had some way to find out if they know each other.

Thanks again, & tell your son all of them make us proud! May God keep them safe.

Hi There!
I saw your comment about the LKC. Our son is on it as well. I would love to know more about how it went with the Somalis on board. I heard they were there for a week. Do you know any more?

thanks!

Wow, I'm so glad I saw your post! The following is part of a short email from my G Nephew.

Sent on June 1.
Yesterday, we pulled into Djibouti,Africa, to unload the refugees we rescued a week ago. The refugees made it to a camp somewhere in the country that's already housing ten's of thousands of Somali's. It was a short stay there.

I haven't heard anything else. Please tell your son THANK YOU for his service & I'm sure he participated in the rescue also! I wish you could see the pictures I have. The story was reported on CNN.

I wish everyone here could see the picture of my g-nephew holding the little girl, he put his sunglasses on her, very touching. The men/women on the USS Lake Champlain & the Navy are to be commended. The media doesn't always report the wonderful things our Military do.

BTW a baby was delivered on the ship.

Wonderful sharing. We need to see more of the good works that our young men and women in these countries are doing to spread the true values of our country to others.

here we go, saving Muslims again! Yet to hear it from our President, we are the arrogant bad guys. No thanks--I don't buy it. I'll take the Navy every time (unless I'm offered the Army!)
