Is that humble pie on your face?

After so many liberals (especially here) have lambasted the concept of a fair tax a VAT or a national sales tax it may be time for some humble pie.

Sorry to ruin your day but it's time for a new tax code and new form of tax.

Dems eye VAT and others

Not the VAT tax. They'll add this one on in ADDITION to the income tax. OMG....more hidden taxes built into the cost of our goods. Folks the VAT tax is NOT the same as National Retail Sales Tax. If a new tax is added then the 16th admendment MUST be abolished along with the IRS who happens to be the largest enforcement agency on the earth.

It is the first serious discussion at a federal tax, point of sale that could eliminate federal taxes for most families. It is actually a step in the right direction.

For example, from the article I linked for you: " ... in a paper published last month in the Virginia Tax Review, Burman suggests that a 25 percent VAT could do it all: Pay for health-care reform, balance the federal budget and exempt millions of families from the income tax while slashing the top rate to 25 percent. A gallon of milk would jump from $3.69 to $4.61, and a $5,000 bathroom renovation would suddenly cost $6,250, but the nation's debt would stabilize and everybody could see a doctor."

Tax specialists are beginning to actually suggest that a point of sale tax could actually simplify the tax code, generate revenue AND replace the existing federal income tax on many or most if not all individuals!

Keep Hope Alive! ha!

It will be added on, not as a replacement. My god people...how much more can we take?

Jmartinez, don't kid yourself, there will be no debt stabilization because Obama's disciples see more money coming in...They are just going to spend more to buy more votes. As far as seeing a doctor goes, well that's "pie in the sky" too, because there will be a shortage of doctors when many of them change careers to keep from having to deal with the Govt bull$hit just to see patients. Plus, free healthcare doesn't pay too well.
