Gingrich: Pelosi 'Lied,' 'Despicable,' 'Dishonest,' 'Vicious,' 'Trivial'

Speaker Pelosi, the nation's third most powerful democrat, calls the CIA "liars" ... let's get to the bottom of this.

Maybe it's Pelosi that is the liar ... again.

As informed as you folks, whom I consider cyber and personal friends(Cyclist) are, how do you so often miss the flip side of the record album? I believe that if you are attacking someone politically, it is even more important to gather your facts together prior to launching those critiques.

1. If the CIA did waterboard, and they knew it to be less than legal, would it be inconceivable that they were less than forthright about what had been and was being done?

2. Is the true crime that Nancy Pelosi may have known we tortured, or the mere fact WE TORTURED PRISONERS? The distraction will not work. I'll gladly pay to jail all of those who committed and ordered war crimes; democrat, republican, independent. Doesn't matter.

3. As for double-speaking partisan politics(which repubs and dems both do), we have ALL seen this before. We know the GOP outrage act. Republican John Boehner, so eager to defend the CIA now,
Sang a very different tune just a year and a half ago.

Boehner now: "It's hard for me to imagine anyone in our intelligence area would ever mislead a member of Congress."

Boehner Dec 2007: Asked about the CIA's NIE: "“Either I don’t have confidence in what they told me several months ago or I don’t have confidence in what they’re telling me today.”

Boehner on Meet The Press WRT the accuracy of CIA information: "It’s clear to all of us, Democrats and Republicans
, that we have flawed intelligence. The CIA had bad intelligence, the Pentagon had bad intelligence and, for that matter, all of our allies around the world had the same bad intelligence."

So, guys, is it possible for the CIA to get facts wrong or not? Can you folks who so often speak of the failures of government and government agencies now, with any credibility or consistency, say that we have an agency, The CIA, that is 100% honest and forthright?

The bottom line is let the investigations come and come NOW! From special prosecutors disaffected by their results. Let republicans and democrats alike be held accountable when it is determined that we, in fact, acted outside of the law. This infatuation with Nancy Pelosi is causing some to lose sight of the actual crime: The committing and the ordering; not the knowing.

Diva, you’ve missed the point of this particular thread.

Certainly the Republicans will be quite happy to see this self-righteous old lady forced out by her own lies and delusions. She has built her power base by pandering to the paranoid “victim mentality” of her party’s extreme left and has damaged this country just as much as the Bush administration. She should have known that her demands for a "Truth Commission" would probably embrass her and other Democrats as much as it would the Bush administration.

However, please remember that it was the Obama administration’s selective release of the CIA torture memos, followed by Pelosi’s embarrassing responses, followed by the coup-de-gras from Obama’s CIA director that will cause her departure. The press is finally starting to take off their Rose Garden colored glasses and will soon be digging for the truth. You should recognize that the REAL battle since Election Day has not been between the Democrats and the Republicans; it’s been between the Obama Democrats and Pelosi’s more radical Democrats in Congress.

When Ms. Pelosi soon vacates the Speaker’s office (and possibly the House), I’m sure she and her posse will site the “vast right wing conspiracy.” She’ll blame the other side of the aisle for her fall when she should be blaming the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Hoosier, you have not been paying enough attention have you? Let's agree to come back to this blog in three to four months and see who is happy about investigations on torture.

1. The CIA director, having reviewed the notes from said CIA briefings, said they are "inconclusive" and will require further investigation.

2. Speaker Pelosi has been asking for a full investigation and full disclosure since she has been the Speaker. Do you think she wants to dig into something that will implicate her?

3. Stating that Speaker Pelosi was briefed on torture admits the previous administration tortured human beings, and I hope it lands many of them in jail, if proven.

Is the crime the KNOWING, or the ORDERING and DOING?

If anyone needs to stop talking, it's Lynn Cheney, who just attacked Col Larry Wilkerson, Colin Powell's Chief of Staff, and who just called President Obama "un American" for failing to take prosecution for torture off of the table. She and her dad must be paid by the DNC.

How quickly we forget how one is elected to the House of Representatives. Pelosi's constituents are not about to recall her over this issue. The Republicans are asking her to 'prove it' or 'apologize'. The Democrats in Congress will not remove her from the Speakers Chair. Remember Barbara Lee - and the outcry when she did not vote for the war? She's still in Congress! Don't hold your breath while waiting for Pelosi's departure. (And hope, for the Republican's sake that she doesn't come up with the 'proof' of her allegation.)

If it Saved American life's then so be it, they certainly don't care about American Life's.
Obama said that the world thinks were jerks anyway, so whats the big deal. I will tell you one thing though, if we had the same political climate during WWII as we do now, we would have LOST!

Obama's weapon of Choice!

At the trials in Nuremburg. "just following orders." "it saved lives."
Do the ends justify the means? Did interring Japanese Americans "save lives?" Did rounding up Jews in Germany "save German lives?" Should we simply deport all Muslims from the U.S.?
You can justify anything now. Who will speak up for you when "they" come for you to "save lives?"

By all accounts, the waterboarding neither "saved lives" nor brought forth any useful intelligence. Torture does not beget useful information, only information to stop the torture.

"Those who trade freedom for security deserve neither."

We have found that holding a gun to the mother of a suspect's head gets good information. Pulling the trigger yields even better information. We will round up the children of suspects and shoot them in their limbs to get good info, as the ends justify the means. What has happened to the party of moral values?

Gingrich made a great point regarding Pelosi's lack of honesty in a release he made on May 15. Candidly, think that she was not up to the job of Speaker from the beginning. Think the Party made a big mistake for not having selected Steny Hoyer. Think that Hoyer would have kept John Murtha more in line, along with some other poor examples of leadership -- and wasteful spenders. It is becoming increasingly clear that Pelosi, Murtha, and others cannot be trusted with national security -- much less the coffers of taxpayer money!!

That being said, be it good or be it bad, we are about to see what type of leadership is within the Democratic Party on the Hill. Basic questions that are being asked outside the beltway are: 1) How can we trust the current Speaker of the House with National Defense if issues that come before her are not politically palatable with her notions of the day? 2) How can we trust anyone when they will place their perceived political future above that of the Nation? 3) If the Speaker is willing to throw the CIA under the bus to save her own political skin, how in the world can we trust her to legislate programs that will effect/affect all citizens -- such as health care, education, climate care, and reducing earmarks and other waste? The real question is: WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD WANT THIS WOMAN TWO, REPEAT TWO HEARTBEATS AWAY FROM THE PRESIDENCY??

It became clear on May 15 that Leon Panetta was sticking up for the 'Agency'. Where does that leave Mrs. Pelosi??

I for one feel that the days of Pelosi are over -- and for the good of the Country and the Democratic Party -- she should be woman enough to step aside. It is very apparent that she lied, or was totally inept, or both!

The opposition party will have a hay day with the 'Party of Pelosi' with clips of her May 14 press conference played over and over. She will not be able to blame the Bush administration for the fumble bumming of May 14!!

If Robert Gibbs continues to play 'hands off', then they will be partly to blame over the outcome of 2010. Folks are not pleased with Nancy Pelosi -- and she cannot blame Karl Rove or the Bushes for her sheer stupidity!

It kinda has a ring to it. What did she know and when did she know it. You heard it here first.

Madam Speaker may have been present at the briefings and may have been fully advised of the CIA's actions, BUT...

She didn't inhale!

Seriously, it has been my thought since long before the first votes were cast last Fall that if Obama became President his greatest challenge to creating a non-partisan middle ground would not be the Republicans - it would be Nancy Pelosi.

Pelosi's entire power base in her district and in the House has come from "ratcheting up" the partisan bickering to create a party of victims looking for villains to punish. It's looking like what goes around, comes around.

Good luck Nancy in your next gig as Keith Olberman's rabid female sidekick.

and Obama is already there, so he's not in that line, 2 heartbeats and it is President Pelosi. Do you know who is next in line behind Pelosi? That has never actually happened in history, but nowadays we need to think about a scenario that forces us to go deep on the bench. Its not pretty.

President Pelosi would probably replace CIA Director Panetta about 10 seconds after she was sworn in. I don't think Hillary's position would be safe either.

You're right. I counted the President. Princess Pelosi is #2. Robert Byrd is 3rd, Clinton 4th, and tax cheat Geithner is 5th. Yikes.

Pretty sad when you have a top 5 list and Hillary Clinton stands out as not only the favorite, but the only credible candidate to actually be President.

Is this a great country or what?

I can picture Rahm Emanuel sitting quietly in his West Wing office on Thursday, May 14, watching Nancy Pelosi dig herself deeper into a hole.

A slow smile comes upon his face.

He picks up the phone, dials a few digits, and after a brief pause he says: “Leon, the time has come.”

Click.

Rahmbo 'dead fish' E. is simply not that smart and Leon now has access to all of the background info on both Barry and Rahm and a buttload of Chinese money .... boy I bet those files on Barry O and Rahmbo are a treasure trove of information Eye-wink

Super neat scenario though and I can see them taking the opportunity to further attempt to take over the entire US government .... neat scenario indeed.
