FUBU part 2 - Don't buy anything from anyone that is not black!

It's only racism if you are white, or light brown.

Does this bother anyone other than me?

And that's green! If I had a lot more (like unlimited!) funds, I'd have no problem with spreading my personal wealth to a multitude of businesses. But I tend to seek the best deal, white or black and then based on the comments and recommendations of friends, both black and white, make the purchase. That's the purchasing principle I go by. What anyone else does is their own business, not for me to condemn or condone. Heck, I'm just glad we can atually still MAKE purchases right now!

I was in a parts store the other day in Atlanta.. Two b/ms were talking about Obama and getting "FREE" healthcare and getting what is rightfully theirs anyway.. since slavery built America.
One remarked to the other "I ain't fighting for this F*ing Racist Country it ain't my Country" Several other people in the store were nodding their heads and agreeing.. I being the only w/m there was suddenly not very welcomed. I laughed shook my head and me and my Glock walked out..
Expect more of this as Obama moves forward with his policies..

First, Mr. Chapman, when you have an avatar with The President of The United States as a communist, it is hard to give your opinion any more relevance than a sample of rubber dog doo doo. Seriously. Do you like losing elections? Stay the course bro!

J.Martinez: Stories like this don't usually bother me because I could give a rat's behind. I would have never seen this story if you hadn't posted it. Whether folks avoid black business associations like GitReal says he has (based on past bad experiences), or folks seek out black business, it's their money; it's their prerogative. I don't agree with that at all, but some people are predisposed to think and act in such a way with their cash. Ask Git about his experiences, why he avoids minority contractors, and see if you can understand business decisions being influenced by race. Git is a reasonable man. Chances are the people in this story are reasonable as well.

S. Lindsey, I will not judge you by the words some white business folks and store owners have used towards me. I won't portray the blatant racism I've felt, heard, and witnessed as being indicative of an atmosphere created by the presidents (who were white) at the time. It is AMAZING that you would try to pin this on Obama. Seriously. You can find and quote idiots of every hue. How you attempt to shape their words says much about your own perspective. Don't think I need to tell you that many a minority do fight and serve this country. Irrespective of who is in the White House. Use your example as portraying ignorant folks; no more. No less.

ps.

I like the Margarita party idea! I'd even share one with "fred."

I will volunteer to be a designated driver/chauffeur for the party participants, to make it easier to relax and not have a potential DUI to worry about.

It's not easy being the carbonunit

Just got a Margaritaville Margarita maker.. Un-Real.. shaves the ice, blends it all by itself.. makes a perfect "rita"..
Now on my "story" nothing neferious meant by it.. Just related something I "personnally" have observed since the election.. There will always be a "crowd" that seeks an advantage based souly on "who is in power". I have heard the same "type" comment on 3 occasions now.. Two at Docs and the parts store.. I found it disturbing at best.. That kind of attitude is wrong for America no matter what color your skin is..

To which I say: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

The excuse that someone else does it too (as when you attempt to lump GitReal in with this pair of racists) is a lame attempt to justify the bad behavior of others. I agree with Main on this one. Tisk tisk Diva. Your colors are showing.

So I have no idea what you are talking about S. Lindsey ..... despite your egocentric assumption, you are NOT the center of the universe or the topic of my response.

Diva had no trouble identifying who I was speaking with as you will see in the continued exchange between us should you read on.

The 'Pair' is the man and woman, husband and wife, that only shop with black businesses that Diva elects to tacitly endorse.

Diva Said "J. Martinez, S,Lindsey, and the joke Chapman"

You said "The excuse that someone else does it too (as when you attempt to lump GitReal in with this pair of racists)".. Now obviously I missed something here.. it happens.
No need for you to go all postal on me..
I actually agree with you on this one.. Just wanted a clarification.. I guess I got it.. despite my egocentric assumptions.. I got it..

Do you disagree with:

A. "I would have never seen this story..."

B. "It's their money; their prerogative.."

or

C. "I could give a rat's behind."

Just trying to understand the point you aren't making.

Wow - great comeback.

A.) I can't help it if you are ill informed.

B.) Do you feel the same way about them keeping their money instead of giving it away for government programs in taxes?

C.) The correct saying is "I couldn't give a rat's behind."

Your failure to have integrity in issues that would cause you to put principle above race is certainly not surprising.

When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, he spoke of a world in which the color of someone's skin was irrelevant.
I think Dr. King would have agreed that racism is not the answer to racism. However, some people (the Andersons, for example) just don't understand his message. Basing your shopping habits on the racial identity of business owners is discrimination, at best. Discrimination is the hallmark of racism.
Regardless of race, we're all Americans and there has never been a better time than the present to put the past behind us and start living the dream.

I tried buying only from businesses owned and operated by middle-aged, white, tree-hugging pagan women, but it didn't last very long.

Reverse racism is still racism. I wonder what Davids mom would say about these buying habits?

Davids Mom, I've been waiting to see what you have to say about this. Where are you?
I enjoy reading what you and Diva have to say when it comes to racism.

Submitted by Davids mom on Wed, 05/20/2009 - 1:29pm.

FROM THE ARTICLE:

"When we were a community of black folks who could not go to the white stores, our community of black stores flourished," Brown said. "When we were given the opportunity to go into the white store, it was like nothing else mattered anymore and we wanted to go to the white store, regardless of what the black store provided. We could have the same or better products if we supported (black businesses) in the same way."

First - racism exists. Americans have been exposed to it since the colonists first encountered the real Americans - Native Americans. Here in Fayetteville and Peachtree City, there are a number of black business owners. They usually don't advertise their 'ownership'. Some do join the Chamber - and are outward with their ownership. We have noticed that if they provide the product and the customer service, they do well. Many businesses in Georgia are going under - due to poor management and/or weak economy. Color has little to do with it, When the Andersons research Atlanta - they will note that there are businesses in this city that are owned and operated by 'blacks' that can handle their mortgages, investments, etc. The Asians support Asian business, the Hispanics support Hispanic business, and lo and behold, whites support 'white' business. The wonderful aspect of living in 2009 is that we have a choice. I'm amazed that some participants in this discussion are surprised - and feel threatened about the phenomenon of communities being supportive of members of their community. In the 'black' community - if the business does not deliver service, it will not survive - just like a 'white' business in a 'white' community. It is not racism to base your purchase habits on past experiences, and CHOICE!

I agree completely.
