Not funny: Barack Obama laughs at Wanda Sykes "joke" about wanting Rush Limbaugh dead

It was amusing when she quipped that Obama trying so hard to be all things to all men that the next thing is he'll be seen mowing the White House lawn.

But the speech took a very ugly turn when she laid into Limbaugh.

This is what she said: "Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails, so you're saying, 'I hope America fails', you're, like, 'I dont care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq'. He just wants the country to fail. To me, that's treason.

"He's not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight."

She then concluded: "Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that's what he needs." Obama seemed to think this bit was pretty hilarious, grinning and chuckling and turning to share the "joke" with the person sitting on his right.

Yeah, wishing death on another person and having a sitting "president" laugh about it is a real knee-slapper!

I am not that offended by Wanda Sykes. She is what she is and I wouldn't pay a dime to see her perform. However, she was at an official event attended by the press and the president himself. Who is this Feherty guy? A golf commentator? Is that really on the same level as a speaker at a press and presidential dinner? That is pretty silly. It is like counting what Sonny Perdue says with the same level of importance as Harold Logsdon or maybe even Janet Smola.

Sykes' comments were mocking a talk-show host. Feherty was talking about U.S. soldiers murdering the Speaker of the House and a Senator.

My real point is the hypocritical, forced moral outrage spilling from the keyboards of the Repub crybaby bloggers, Fred, MOC and Lindsey.

Also the professionalism of our soldiers. Using 2 bullets on Nancy Pelosi is a classic assaination technique (tap,tap). That takes her out quickly and eliminates the danger that she could ever ascend to the Presidency. Strangling Bin Laden first - in front of Harry Reid exacts a bit of revenge against the killer of 3,000 innocent Americans. Making Harry watch this is good, but the part of the story he left out is that the soldier tortured Reid by slamming him up against the wall (and the soldier spared Nancy from seeing this hideous form of torture) and got him to make a tape confessing that America is great and he'd like a Republican to take his place in the Senate.

No it is still not that funny, but at least it has a happy ending - like most fairy tales. Sorry, I didn't mean to drag Barney Frank into this.

I obviously DID touch a nerve with you and others here when I slammed pageants, and a parent, for promoting this crap in public schools. It's the culture down here, especially in the rural south, to have these kind of pageants in public schools, but no one wants to admit it - why is that? If you, and the other thin-skinned bloggers on this thread don't like my posts, then don't read them. And if I read something else that ever rubs me the wrong way, especially in regards to exploiting children and hosting demeaning beauty pageants in our schools, then I'll be posting again. What a great speech given with passion and humility. I am so proud to have this man, Obama, as my president.

When bloggers like bigon/incognito have nothing to add to an online argument, they resort to criticizing another person's looks, somewhat like the schoolyard bully who pokes fun at the the other kids on the playground, because no one is paying attention to him/her. This is similar to the nastiness invoked by the many other conservative bloggers who have been banned in the past, like TruthSleuth - bigon/incognito falls into that same category. They do not have a serious argument so they become nasty trolls, inserting themselves into arguments just to fan the flames.
