A $3, 500, 000, 000, 000 budget .... and still a cut in military spending?

Is anyone other than me GREATLY disturbed by this MASSIVE spending during a time when we are already facing trillions in debt?

Are you educated readers out there seriously not frightened by the scope and magnitude of this government expansion? The expense associated with financing this spending, the beholding to the Chinese and the loss of freedom of choice? Forget labels and party loyalty, are there people that are seriously in favor of this?

It astounds me that so many would be so willing to give up so much so easily. We have taken out a mortgage on our children's future that we have never been able to pay and before laying it at their feet - we quadrupled it.

Please forgive me for my lack of eloquence when expressing the situation we will find ourselves in but plainly stated: our kids and grand kids are completely screwed.

So I wonder how big of a fight the president will have with his own party in order to achieve this little goal.

I do have to ask why did he proposed such a budget only to now try to reel it back in. Perhaps, it’s the realization that this is deficit is not sustainable and could really harm our future.

BTW, by some accounts this $17B is only ½ of 1% of the anticipated budget 2010 deficit. There a lot more to cut.

.... than the stimulus.

The manufacturing sector lost 149,000 jobs in April. Construction industries cut 110,000 jobs. The service-providing industry slashed 269,000 positions in April.

YES THEY DID!

Are you sure? From what I see, defense spending went from $721.5B (2009) to $827.8B(2010). Even if defense took the full $17B hit that President Obama promises to pull out of the budget (I guess he is now concerned) it will still be above last year's funding levels.

The future is scary however.
